I have drills and rotary tools but I don't have one of those Ring polishing mandrels. I wish I did have one because that certainly would make my job much, much easier. Until I'm able to buy one, I'm sure I can improvise somehow. Thanks so much for sharing this!🙂 (BTW, really good background music too.👍)

We called it a “Military Finish,” when we got our high school rings. When the ‘blackness’ would fade, we’d simply hold it over a match and let the carbon do its job. Then we would wipe off the excess, inside and out. It would last several weeks. I discovered that by adding dripping wax from a candle, it would make the finish last six months. Plus, when I wiped the ring down with a rag, the wax gave it a brilliant shine.

Just have a light spray from black/brown/dark yellow spraypaint and then polish highspots works well

I relate to your comment even though I live in United Kingdom. For a few days during a really hot and humid spell when temperatures peaked to 38C, my copper cuff bracelet and silver cross chain went almost black. Had to clean everyday, sometimes twice a day. They settled down when the weather cooled. Usually I just give them an occasional wash with warm water and washing up liquid. I have not experienced this phenomenon before and found it really interesting.

+alexander mishenberg Thank you for your question about how to do an antique patina on non silver "Clad" coins... Often times with clad coins they can be made very dark by just heating to dull red then quenching in water. You can then use the polishing mandrels shown in our other videos to finish the two-tone effect...Take care...CoinCrafter
