You learn a lot more when things don't go exactly according to the plan. Thank you for this edifying vid. :)

Just take the strings off, it's easier and prevent scratches. Find some bowl, or even better empty vessel for making ice cubes to keep your parts and screws organised

tip. get yourself to similar type screws that hold the rhythm switches in , add a small dab of hot glue on each and stick them in the blank holes. Wont look out of place. and better than having the empty holes there.

Thanks! Very useful. I've currently got a VM Jazzmaster on the go which I'm modding the Bejezzus out of.

on your spray painting video you talked about putting decals on the head stock. It would be cool if you did a video on that

Or, for a couple bucks, you could get the right bracket for the rythm pots. Allparts has them, or fender American would work, too.

there is a tool for fender/squiers for removing the knobs and hardware

Those pickups on your Jazzmaster look like Classic Player pickups, not the stock one's on VMJ's....are they? BTW I have 3 VMJ, which I've modded as well

Got the guitar secondhand, not sure... But they sounded good!

Find a table to work on. Sitting on the floor will do my back in .. and take the strings off.

You should've cut the strings first. Other than that nice work man!!

These were special baritone strings that I didn't have a replacement set for--plus, I'm cheap! These strings were still in good shape, so I didn't want to ruin them :^)

@@DIYMusic you could have not cut the strings but unwound them and carefully taken them off the tuners, then let them dangle off the other end. just a thought.

I don’t know why anyone would put a tortoiseshell pickguard on a sonic blue guitar. The original white guard brought out the blue, now your guitar just looks white. And you can buy white Squier Jazzmasters with a tortoiseshell pickguard straight out of the box. 🤷🏽♂️

I got it used, so no new boxes for me… and I like the tortoise better myself 🤷🏻♂️

@@DIYMusic hey man, it’s still a gorgeous guitar, sorry if I came off a little negative. The world would be boring if we all liked the same stuff. Have a great weekend! 🎸

no biggie, dude… I sold this guitar like 6 years ago, so no skin off my nose-hope your weekend is also great!
