I'm probably going to get the Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar in sunburst sooner rather than later. I keep hoping that they'll release an updated model with a strat bridge but I doubt that'll happen. If I get it I'd like to change the pick guard. I'm not a fan of the stock pick guard. I'm really tempted to impulse buy it right now. The only thing holding me back is that I'll probably have to put at least €300 maybe more in to it including the cost of a hardcase just to get it the way I want.

Is it possible to change the knobs to telecaster knobs?
@jAMMAN7989 жыл бұрын
Sebastian Sanchez Yes, you can certainly put Telecaster knobs on this guitar if you wished. Just pull the plastic knobs off the Jazzmaster, then pop on the Telecaster knobs. Most Telecaster knobs are made of metal and have a small screw on the side to tighten them in place, which would work fine on the Jazzmaster.

Still loving that jazzmaster? Anyway, thinking about buying one and just wondering how much do you think this guitar can take some gain before getting too much hun? I love jazzmasters for their crunchy sound but how would you think it would do if I went above that crunchy od and more into something like slash's gain?
@jAMMAN7989 жыл бұрын
Admiral Aladeen The Jazzmaster is still in my collection. The Seymour Duncan designed pickups can take plenty of gain. I have tried playing high gain on it and it works well (never noticed any hum). I believe there are some vids on KZbin where it is used for Metal music.

@jAMMAN79810 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks. I've mostly only played Gibsons, Fenders & Ibanez guitars. This is my very first Squier & I'm pretty impressed as it is a very solid guitar. I could easily play this guitar in a live setting and it would hold up well. In this video I removed the set of .009s or .010s that came stock & replaced them with .011s. Yep, funny thing about the RHCP tune, when I was holding the guitar in my hands, that tune came to mind... just seems to fit well with this guitar.

jAMMAN798 yeah I was contemplating a j.mascis squire or the modern player fender jazzmaster HH ... but Canadian prices just went up + more folks reviewing them & saying basswood body be dammed there ALOT like the vintage 60's ones then fenders own. As for the squiers .... if your looking at anything out of the classic vibe or vintage modified mid to higher tier stuff ... your getting great bfyb products to play on !! I luv my VM Telecaster Deluxe & have a 50's & 60's classic vibe strat ... though I just modded out the 60's its great stuff for stock or modding out !! :)

Just my two cents on the matter, but Fender is the only one who makes a classic looking mint green. The Allparts one in the video as well as other brands I've seen take the name of the color a little too literally. Fender's mint green is more beige with a slight hint of green. In my opinion, it's worth spending the extra $10 and getting the official one.

moving one screw is how the aftermarket doesnt get sued by fender for copying.
@0v3rgr0wn8 жыл бұрын
tom d But Squier is owned by Fender. I think it's probably so it inspires you to buy a Fender instead of buying a Squier and modding it.
@tdlvsabs8 жыл бұрын
sorry, what i meant was that is an all parts part not squier, it has to be slightly different to not be sued for infrigement
@marcmistermarc6 жыл бұрын
Tom d - I get your point but here All-Parts have the screw in the correct place for the US version and the Squier is 'wrong'. They either just made the Squier from scratch and didn't think about the screw position on the bracket at all or, it was deliberate. It's hardly a metric vs imperial thing in this case but some parts don't fit because of that. At the end of the day, it means more spare parts are sold. Bloody annoying though.

You say the wiring is a disaster and that's how JM's were designed back in the day? False. The wiring just looks like a disaster because you're new at this. Also, this is not Fender JM wiring designed back in the day, it's Squier wiring strung together in Indonesia. You say the rhythm pot assembly was created by an evil genius? No...unless you consider Leo Fender and his men evil. You refer to the 'new' pickguard as the Fender pickguard. Wrong again. That is an All Parts pickguard... says so right on the package. Now that I've thrown shade on your video, I think you did a good job for what you were trying to accomplish. My view is that you'd have been further ahead if you'd replaced that cheap Asian jack with a good Switchcraft jack. It's really hard to justify calling your 'finished product' retro while you still have those cheap Duncan Design pickups. You could at least change the covers if you cannot afford Seymour Duncan Antiquities or actual Fender JM pickups. Oh, btw.... I would caution against filing metal parts directly over magnetic pickups.
@jAMMAN7988 жыл бұрын
This was my first dissection of a JM... and as per my honest reaction in the video, I was very much like WTF? But back in the day this was progress I guess.
