DIY Idea of Jute Wicker Basket | Jute idea

In this video I will show you how to make a basket out of jute and glue with your own hands. Hope you like the idea!

The base of the cylindrical shape was made of cardboard. I covered it with foil. The jute thread was impregnated with PVA glue and wrapped around the form, as shown in the video. I waited for complete drying. I did the same with the lid.
After complete drying, I removed the cardboard base.
She pasted over the edges with lace.

What I like about this site is it shows how to create amazing things from stuff we'd otherwise throw away, or, hopefully, at least recycle. So I'm hoping the plastic wrap can be replaced with something like old bread bags. Those can be easily shaken out and rinsed or washed. They're also cheaper than buying new. There's far too much plastic in the oceans and everywhere else!

You're so right!👍 Btw, wax paper might be a good alternative also. I know it's good for preventing certain things from sticking to it. I realize the glue here is different from hot glue but if I'm not mistaken hot glue doesn't stick to wax paper so maybe this type of glue won't either. I get that the idea is to repurpose plastic bags (I've been doing it for years) but besides the glue not sticking to Wax paper, it would be easier to cut wax paper into specific shapes than plastic bags. Overall, anything we can do to eliminate waste and reduce the amount of plastic being made is a big help! 🙂

❤️❤️❤️❤️ That is really cool!👍 Ya' know if you made your cylinders for the basket and lid twice the height (or slightly more than) the height you made them, you could cut along the center of each cylinder with a craft knife (Xacto knife) to cut it in half and make 2 baskets simultaneously with very little waste and make 2 lids simultaneously with the short cylinder. You could even make one basket shorter than the other by cutting the taller cylinder below the center line. Thanks for the inspiration! I can't wait to try this. 😊

This is great something you could do with kids. Sunday school, Girl Scouts, Cub scouts, and community kids crafts. Adult helpers could help with glue gun. Or other glue for trim. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos.

Neat idea....better without the lace. I think I would also add some sort cute knob to the lid for handle purposes....so I may have to thicken the lid up a bit. . .Can also make any size!....This is adorable for so many things!!! 😎❤ edit: would be cute for a faux fruit basket on kitchen table. 😊🍊🍎🍐🍌🍇-My mother has always had one for some reason. 🤔
