DIY In Desk PC Build - Retrofitting my old desk on a budget

I turned my existing desk into a PC using a handful of tools and roughly $50. If this is a project you've been considering, hopefully, this will show you what can be accomplished even when you're not a master woodworker with an arsenal of tools at your disposal.

I have done the same and man not only it saves space on desk or below but keeps it cool and virtually dust free

That's really sweet. Was looking to build something with my granddaughter for her room and came across this. I Hope it's still running strong. Thanks for uploading.

I'm just finishing my build up now myself, and everything you said in this video is so spot on, hahaha, what a nightmare! A total nightmare, but a thoroughly rewarding one, hahaha.

looks good my only complaint is the raised picture frame you could tell you were getting over the project at that point I would of tried to get the acrylic flat additionally a lot of people try to fit a wireless charger as well

this is absolutely gorgeous! just finished a similar build myself! it was my first PC build and I'm using it to type this comment! :D I did make the desk specifically for this using two sheets of acrylic with a couple of inches between them and some spots cut out of the bottom for the components to fit. i'm a complete amateur and have never worked with acrylic before, so I ran into some unexpected problems and the whole thing came out a little rough. I'll be spending the next few months polishing and smoothing. thanks for sharing I love your videos!

Thats awesome! If you have any links to your desk I'd love to check it out. Sounds like a really big project. I was legitimately stressed this entire project because I had no idea how it would actually turn out. Thank you!

no pictures yet. I had thought about making a video of the process, but forgot to pull out the camera until I was already halfway done. I'll upload a couple videos showcasing it and the bed I built it under in a few weeks. and stressing out is definitely relatable lol. I really almost gave up at one point, but I'm so glad I didn't! and I'm glad you didn't either!

I just wonder, does every DIY person here, has a full fledged factory in their house?! 🤔 .... Though I like this video for the practicality.

Thats so cool. i have a guestion. What did you do with the airflow did you screw holes to the table or something else?
@coolgreycustoms

I cut intakes at the rear of the desk for 2 120 fans and cut a hole at the bottom for a single 120 exhaust

Thanks Ray! People have done their own versions but usually they build a desk specifically for the computer. The challenge I had was trying to make it work for the desk I had with as little money as possible. I appreciate you checking it out !

Thanks ! For the most part yes, the thermals definitely aren’t any worse than when I had it in my h500i case. I’ve since hinged the frame on top of the desk, so when it’s under heavy load I can lift it for some extra airflow
