POOL INFO:
30,000 gal, "True-L" shape
in-ground vinyl liner ("Butterfly Effect" by Latham)
salt water generator
We are in the St Louis, MO area & have been closing our dual drain, vinyl lined pool ourselves for the past 10 years. Knock on wood, we have never had any issues with cracked pipes from a winter freeze.
*knock on wood again for good measure*
Unfortunately, I missed when he did the bottom drains, but he explains it.. and the process itself is identical to how the jets are done, and I got that recorded. :)
**WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL POOL CLOSERS... we are just a couple homeowners who couldn't justify spending the $300+ to have someone else do something we are physically capable of doing ourselves. Now that the demand for pool service has skyrocketed & either costs have become even more outrageous than before... or finding a company who actually has time/employees available to do it is nearly impossible, I figured we would do a couple quick videos while we close ours this year. That said... everything we do is what works for us. I don't know if its what "real" pool closers would do, or not. Professional companies may do it differently... but this is how we learned (via KZbin "research" & asking professionals for advice, etc), and it has worked for us for the last 10 years... but we aren't at all so set in our ways that we won't take suggestions or advice for improving our methods! If you see anything that could be improved, we would absolutely welcome your comments!!
I am more than happy to answer any questions!! Just leave a comment below & I'll respond as soon as I can! :-)
ONE THING TO NOTE... if this is your very first time closing your pool, you need to make sure you have the proper equipment to effectively blow out the pipes. A SHOP VAC WILL NOT BE SUFFICIENT!! We have a Balboa Mighty-Vac. They are pricey, but we were fortunate enough to split it with close family friends, and have a "dual ownership", if you will.
