how do you fix the problem of the distance? because I have used this sensore before and it give different values depending on the distance no matter if is the same object, so I was thinking in a laser distance measure and have and algorythm, but I see that you are not using one.

Does the MLX90614 sensor measure ambien tempearture or object temperature? Or does it take both into account? What was the motivation behind using a 9V battery? Would it harm the Arduino since it usually operates at 5V?

Mine measures the ambient temperature and the surface temperature of the object. You can power an arduino at 9v even at 12v (in the dedicated slot and not on the 5v pin).

nice video... My questions is: Did you ajuste the parmeters of your sensor device such Emiisivity? comparing with the comercial guns they have an optical device to focus the IR getting to the sensor, so did you thing that without this optical lens the gun will work well?

as you move further out the signal spreads. I probably wouldn't want to be more than a foot if you want accurate readings. I couldn't find anything to exact in the data sheet. But if you were to get pretty close to something its pretty accurate it seems 10-bit PWM is configured to continuously transmit the measured temperature in range of -20 to 120°C, with an output resolution of 0.14°C

It would not be reliable enough. Imagine some someone coming I to a business from the cold outside...thier skin temp would be way down. Or if they had cranked the heat in thier vehicle, skin temp would be much higher. Skin temp is not always indicative of internal body temp
