The first video that I watched made me lean towards taking the 389 to a shop to have the compressor replaced. But then watching your video gave me the courage to do it myself! Thanks!

I like the tips you give on your repairs. I replaced an air tank this past fall and didn't pre-loosen any of the fittings before removing the tank. It was a bear trying to get those off with the tank trying to roll on the ground. I'll keep that tip in mind for future repairs.

What ive always done especially in big rigs is never fill any fluids to the full mark, so for my cm2350 i keep the oil a half gallon low from full same with all the other fluids so as everything heats up to operating temps the fluid expands increasing the volume and can start blowing out seals but to this day besides a few external oil leaks ive never lost oil when i dont have an oil leak issue i can go 25k between oil changes and not lose a drop of oil due to piston rings, rear mains ect shes extremely reliable!

Not sure if you've changed the plungers in the high pressure fuel pump but there is tsb out to replace the ceramic plungers and rollers with steel copies, not sure if its still warranty work but its a straight forward process, pull the p/s pump back and pull the perimeter bolts for the fuel pump head, plungers are in the head and a magnet will pull the rollers out of the pump bore. I'll see if I can get some tq specs if your interested

@JimTomatore 3 жыл бұрын
Any 2010 and newer ISX (cm2250, cm2350, x15) needs the fuel pump head rebuilt regularly. They tend to shed metal, often from the cam, tappets or rollers into the oil which is pumped through the engine before reaching the filter. Early 2010-2013 engines had ceramic plungers that would chip, but even the new steel plungers are affected by the underlying problem. X15 has the oil line isolated for this reason, however the pumps still suffer the same fate. Usually goes bad sometime between 400,000-500,000 miles. The parts to rebuild the fuel pump head run about $500 every 400,000 miles as opposed to $4,000 for a new pump or $40,000 to replace an engine with metal debris everywhere. The damage from a pump failure can damage every internal part in the engine from pistons and liners to cam and rockers to bearings and even the crankshaft. Search "ISX fuel pump failure" on youtube and google for videos, pictures and more in-depth info. For extensive ISX info see Rawze.com or Rawze on youtube

On the bottom mount bolt (through the front panel) is there a nut and washer like the top mount bolt? Or is it just a through bolt was no nut that would tighten on to the air compressor bottom flange?

Enjoy the video but you need to put a conditioner in the antifreeze so that it will come back electrolysis it's in them diesel motors keep getting pin holes in your liners I hope this is some help to you I've been a diesel mechanic for several years and if you don't do it it's just going to cost you down the road cuz you'll have 10 holes in your liners due to the back of electrolysis keep up the good work

when you did your inflame did you get your block cut? there is a very high chance that your liners dropped a bit and is causing your coolant to pressurize.
