CLASSROOM STUFF:
-you may sit absolutely anywhere in college. 
-if you’re the type of person who needs to walk out occasionally to take a mental break, sit as close to the door as possible
-if for whatever reason the desks are too small for you, talk to your instructor about it and they can arrange for a table and chair to be put in the room for you
-please be respectful and don’t text/blog/play your gameboy in during a lecture
-if you have to get up to go get a snack or use the bathroom during the lecture, leave quickly and quietly. do not be a distraction. 
-if you sit near an outlet and need to charge your phone, it’s usually okay to do so. SOCIAL STUFF:
-do not worry about sitting alone in the dining hall
-seriously
-nobody will judge you. in fact someone may possibly come sit next to you. strike up a conversation, don’t be shy!
-eat outside on nice days. I promise you will not regret it. 
-if you choose to play music, don’t be obnoxiously loud
-if you carry a guitar around please do not play Wonderwall
-be kind and respectful to other people
-if you smoke, make sure you do it in a designated area and DO NOT THROW YOUR CIGARETTE BUTTS ON THE GROUND YOU NASTY 
-if you vape please don’t do it in class. nobody wants to smell your fruity gas. 
-headphones. always have them. 
-always have a phone charger as well. WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU ON THE FIRST DAY (and beyond): 
-Monday and Tuesday will likely be syllabus days. take a pen and a highlighter and a folder or something to keep your syllabi in. you might regret not holding on to them later in the semester, so better safe than sorry. 
-some instructors do lecture on the first day so make sure you have a notebook
-MUSIC STUDENTS, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PENCILS AND STAFF PAPER. 
-at most, all you’ll need is a writing apparatus and paper. if your teachers require any additional materials, they will tell you. ADDITIONAL STUFF:
-your phone calendar will become your best friend. use it to mark important dates and block out your schedule. you can thank me later. 
-always have a USB drive. 
-memorize your student ID number
-make friends with teachers
-thank the custodial staff. they are the reason why your building looks so nice and why the bathrooms are clean. 
-most professors are cool with being recorded if you’re like me and don’t do well with taking notes, but definitely ask before you record. 
-READ YOUR SYLLABUS. 
-be on time to every class, but if you’re late do not walk in and make a scene. 
-make sure you stay hydrated. I keep water and powerade in my band locker at all times.
-if your menstruate, make sure you have pads/tampons/liners/whatever in your purse or backpack. advil or midol would also be a good idea. 
-take small snacks with you to school. I usually have granola bars or crackers or little cups of fruit in my locker.

1) Type what your schedule is in your notes app. screenshot it and put it as your lock screen. 2) Don't buy textbooks unless teacher says you actually use it. 3) textbooks are cheaper if you're allowed the older/Kindle versions. Used textbooks are awesomely cheap tooooooooooo 4) it's basically highschool but with bigger adults and you have to pay for it 5) DON'T take a 3hr class that only meets once a week 6) take classes that are almost back to back 7) Have at least one weekday off a week from school (I suggest Friday)

Ahh so excited for you! I'm a second year this semester and oh boy is college so different! I can't even comprehend how I woke up at 7am and went home at 3pm every day in high school... 😂 in college, everyone just does their own things. A lot of people sit and eat by themselves and you're going to be in classes where nobody really talks because they're just there to listen to lecture and then leave. Everything is a lot more casual in terms of speaking to your professors and the class setting. Most important thing is to network! Internships and jobs are very dependent on the people you know. College is definitely a different, but new and exciting, experience! Good luck Rachael 😊

Hello, Rachel! Love your videos especially your kawaii diys! Here is a tip for you when you start college as a freshman. Make sure when you choose your classes, it is related to the major/career you choose. Just be yourself and don't be nervous or afraid to make new friends. Make sure to ask questions if you don't understand the subject as well. Make sure to give time to do your homework and studying as well. Always be prepared, manage your time wisely and be yourself as well. I hope these tips help you to be successful in college. Good luck!

As a senior in college, my biggest tip for incoming freshmen would be to make sure you get involved! Involvement is the fastest and easiest way to make friends. Also, if there's a thing like a welcome week or orientation week (the few days before classes start when everyone is moving onto campus) be sure to go to a least a few of those events as well! Some of the closest friends I have as a senior I met during a welcome week activity my freshman year!

Ahhh I remember college freshman year. My advice: don't take it too seriously, make sure to have fun. Don't buy plates or cups, paper is easier & then you don't have to do dishes. Also get involved. Heeeeey Rachel! I luv these notebooks! Especially that Gudetama one! Much kawaii, such amazings Anyway, this is just a few of my college advices, most of which I learned from experience (although you're probably a better student than me anyway lol): -don't skip class too much. Depending on the class, it might be okay to not actually attend the lecture (whatever it says in the syllabus). Definitely don't skip if there's attendance being taken, or if there are daily assignments in class. Those'll most likely count against you. And in classes where they don't have any daily grade of some sort, don't skip too often. You could miss important announcements and such. -online classes are really easy to forget, so unless you're really good at remembering, don't take online classes, ESPECIALLY if you have a lot of face to face classes that keep you busy. -the freshman 15 is very very VERY REAL! Be careful eating all the college fast foods! Aside from gaining weight, it's an easy way to blow through all your moneys. I make an exception for coffee, but be careful with everything else. -talking with the profs and TAs is definitely helpful. Especially when you have smaller classes, the prof can spend more time helping you out and stuff. And also making appointments to talk to them during their office hours if you need more help is good too (this is one thing I didn't do, partially due to my shyness and crippling awkwardness...but it's definitely a good idea) -don't be on your phone in class, especially small classes. If you're in an auditorium class with 300 people, that's one thing. But a prof can easily see you not paying attention in a class of 20 people. And even in the auditorium classes, if you're sitting in the front, the prof will see you. If you feel like zoning out, the safest option is doodling (trust me on that one) -the very front rows (especially in auditorium classes) are for people who like to participate most, you know, asking and answering questions, engaging in conversation with the prof, etc etc. Its not an official thing, it's more like an unspoken rule, I guess. So be weary of where you sit. Personally, I like to sit towards the middle of the room. It's not too far back that I can't see, but it's not so close that the prof can watch me easily. -if you need to step out and make (or answer) an phone call, or just use the restroom or something, it's okay to just go. You don't have to say anything. (Tbh, I don't know about smaller classes. I played it safe and just went before..) but to that note, make sure you trust the people you're sitting next to. I'm not trying to say that someone will take your stuff, but you can never be too careful. Well, that's about all I could think of.. Hope this helps!

So here are my tips from my 8yrs long college journey. 1. Try to stay involved as much as you can with campus activities, if you see something going on stop and try it out. It's always the best places to meet people that you may have never met other wise. 2. It's ok to change you major. If you find yourself bored or bogged down in the classes that relate to your major, try taking a semester off and try some electives instead. Then If you find yourself dreading to go to your major related classes, you'll know it's time for a change. 3. Take as much of your general classes/requirements your freshmen and sophomore year. My best years were when I finally picked a major and since I had taken all my requirements, I found I could really focus and dive into my major related subjects, plus my days were lighter and my electives were fun. Good luck and hope you have a wonderful experience either way 😁

I went to Stanford over the summer! I would definitely recommend getting a bike because the walk to class is long 😓 and definitely bring a small fan because the dorms do not have air conditioning

Some tips are to not get too stressed and meet good people! Freshman year is really important to make new friends that you can hang out with during your four years of school. Also don't overdo anything! Freshman year can be intimidating because it's a new environment but don't worry and try not to get stressed! I'm not in college but my older sister has graduated college so I know some tips :)
