I like this style a lot with the slats on the bottom. I built a side table years ago with the same concept. I really like the hint about getting some stone leftovers from a countertop place. Great find on this slate!

Loved this project. Simple, but super functional and it looks great. Just curious, have you thought about building a workbench to assemble your projects? Makes my knees hurt to see you put them together while kneeling on the floor - but I'm old.

The meat trays turned out really well, as did the bench and the eggs. I think they could have poached for a little longer! Try some white vinegar in the water to keep the eggs from going stringy.

just leave the eggs in the shells. When you use a water bath like that it works just as well and is so much easier. Because you do a low temperature it has a texture more like a poached egg than a hard boiled egg. I love doing that for some eggs benedict

The kitchen island looks very nice and the assembly looked easy enough. I liked your technique for poaching eggs. Very clever! But I noticed you weren't cooking on a range.. What appliance did you use to poach your eggs?

Why didn't you measure the position of the slats? You measured the position of the screws because you'll see them, but SURELY the slats as out as they are is far more visible

Really like the design. Like the colour contrast between the slate and the wood. I also really like the small serving/cutting board towards the end of the video. Is it something that you did/design or something that you picked up somewhere ?

Great project, Ben. Hey-I'm thinking of getting a ryoba, and noticed you have one with with the tang that goes into the handle. I think those are usually carbon steel...I'm wondering if and how you sharpen yours, and if holds and edge well, like the throwaway blades? Thanks.

Up to 1080p 60fps. KZbin can take a few hours to a full day to process the higher resolutions and have them available at a server near you.
@modustrial
@modustrial 6 жыл бұрын
For some reason, KZbin has started posting videos in 360p while higher resolutions are still processing. If you watch right when a video is uploaded the high res might not be available. There is nothing the creator can do about this. The only fix is to wait 5 minutes or so for KZbin to finish processing the upload and make high res available.

you make really great projects, but your cooking is misguided: using a an immersion circulatior to cook poached eggs is the longest route possible to get the wrong results, instead place some cling film in a cup, drop the egg in, close it off by twisting it, and throw that in boiling water for a couple minutes... you will get a much better and still impossible to screw up poached egg.
@HomeMadeModern
@HomeMadeModern 6 жыл бұрын
They are all just different methods of cooking.
@beanslicer
@beanslicer 6 жыл бұрын
you are not wrong, but you have to understand, you have close to a million subscribers, they all trust in what you show in your videos, so when you show your method for cooking eggs, it is really the culinary equivalent of making furniture using staples... sure, it might actually work, but it is still a bad practice.
