Hello... for a few years (15!!) I have always wanted to build a Koi pond... finally I own my house and I have a super flat big backyard without trees!!! I'm going to start working on the pond finally (10x5x4 ft), I live on Florida so soil composition it's sand and red clay, on one hand makes easy to dig but on the other hand the Cohesion it's really low... My plan is too start with a cinder block pond collar and create a 2 tier design with a 16 inch shelf at the middle, it's there something that i can do to make easy the digging so the sand don't collapse and make the pond loose shape before the pond liner is on place?

How would you "repair" parts of the dirt wall under the concrete that were possibly knocked out during excavation? (in order to maintain that nice flat wall and 90 degree angle)

This looks already really nice

You guys are studs for digging that out. My uncle used to say, put a shovel in your hands and your whole body will hurt the next day. Laughing at myself thinking I could build my own pond. One think I learned so far is that when I do decide to construct a pond, I am for sure hiring help. Ha. Do you have a pond builder that you'd recommend in San Diego ?

Hi can I add block walls on to that concrete and use it as a footing to go above ground 2ft

Im assuming moist soil makes a good concrete wall frame? I live in michigan so the soil is really moist lol

+AgentOtter710 As long as the soil is smooth. I have a contractor friend in Florida that doesn't have to use forms because the sandy soil makes the perfect form.
