This young man is brilliant. The next version should include a micro-motor inside the top which would cause the top to spin in the opposite direction. The base would be an electromagnet with a hall sensor circuit to equalize the magnetic forces.

@@MaxImagination You have an impressive amount of talent to be able to build a balanced top without the help of fancy equipment. Your project made me wonder if a maglev train could benefit from gyroscopes. I had to subscribe because I 'have' to see more of your ideas!

I've been making a levitron for like 3 years and still cannot get it right you make it look so easy but that's okay cuz I've also made a little Cube float without no spinning and that was pretty cool
@georiashang1120 Жыл бұрын
How about adding another magnet in the center of the ring magnet and placing its south facing up,thus the magnetic above should possibly be like a stronger vortex,which is easier for stabilization of the levitator
@MaxImagination Жыл бұрын
Never tried it. Feel free to report back if you do!
@Insulus6 ай бұрын
if you ever revisit this: mounting a magnetic disk (like a steel washer) about an inch below your "top's" repulse magnet would pull the bottom of your top down providing a permanent stable vertical orientation with or without gyro-rotation.

Interested in seeing something like this work. I'll keep your tip in mind. Cheers!

Hey Max, could you perpetuate the spin by using a computer fan as a base for your ferrite ring?
@MaxImagination4 ай бұрын
Hey Aaron, it's probably possible, but then you cannot consider it "perpetual motion" as you're applying power via the fan.
@AaronMcCoy02204 ай бұрын
@@MaxImagination I talked a lot with my physics buddies on this, and it boils down to: you have to spin a top for it to be stable on a plane, you can't spin a table under a top to keep it upright. This would work if the fan were blowing air across the top in a way that spun the top, but spinning the magnet underneath it won't do alone.
@thgthgthg2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Love your video! Just want to ask: does the spinner's top magnet size matter? Can I use smaller size magnet (like 20mm diameter)? Or is it the larger the better? Thanks!
@MaxImagination2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! The top size does matter as it depends on being suspended above that donut shaped magnet below, so its diameter should not exceed the inner hole diameter of the base magnet. 20mm should work, with enough fine tuning. Cheers, Max

Heyy, amazing vedio, I'm actually willing to make a levitating device , so I had a question Can you please explain the equal force part cuz I don't get what I should do , thx in advance ..
@MaxImagination Жыл бұрын
Hello, Andy. Thanks for watching! In terms of the physics behind the device, you don't have to take so much of it into consideration. The main thing would be to have a near perfectly balanced - correctly-weighted spinning top with the magnet and a perfectly level base magnet with a big enough inner hole diameter. Keep tweaking and adjusting the spinning top's weight as you go, according to the magnitude of how much or little the base magnet suspends it in the air. Cheers.

Couldn’t you get the top spinning in a flat bowl(um…. Eye contact shape) so the top will spin at the bottom of it and then lower the bowl while it’s spinning until the ring magnet starts repelling it? Instead of trying ti get it spinning and raising it above the magnet? Also, what if you fixed the ring magnet to a drill or something and made it spin and then lowered the top while it’s still over the spinning ring maybet. Would the top still levitate despite it not spinning? 🤔🧐

Will ferrite pullox magnets work?
@MaxImagination2 жыл бұрын
As long as the outer diameter is no smaller than 6cm, a pullox magnet as the base will work, yes.
@islandseeker1260 Жыл бұрын
How about using a three-point leveling base rather than four-point? I think that would be easier to setup and adjust -- especially if you also center a round bubble level on the plate of the base magnet for extra precision. And maybe build a variable speed motor gizmo with a release-clutch, to get the top spinning at the specifically required speed, which would also eliminate the uncontrolled flinging of a finger-thumb spin?
@MaxImagination Жыл бұрын
Good ideas... Making sort of a launcher type motorized mechanism might do the trick and even get the top so spin for longer!

If you put this levitron inside a balloon would the balloon levitate?
@MaxImagination9 ай бұрын
No. The balloon wouldn't levitate as it has nothing to do with the levitron - if it's not in contact. If the balloon touched the spinning top, it would fall.

I'm new here so I just have to ask the question why bother making your own little levitron other than to say you made your own?, i would rather buy one of those little tops online and just use a speaker magnet like your doing unless the ones online are two heavy to stay in perfect balance??
@MaxImagination10 ай бұрын
If you can find a top online that works fine, great. Otherwise, it's more practical to make your own top yourself as you can balance and fine-tune it to the perfect weight.
