Nice experiment John, you could use it to investigate the movement of a speaker. Enjoy those Oreo cookies.

It seems like you're pushing up against the Miller capacitance. To overcome it you could try a cascode configuration.

In old switch mode supplies, they used a small electrolytic across the base resistor to speed up switching. You also have to remember that driving a bjt into saturation slows it down significantly.

A speed up capacitor across the base resistor would help. A schottky diode connecting the collector to base would prevent the transistor from saturating.

Was transistor speed discussed? Ft?

Asynchronous motor will never reach synchronous speed because slip is needed to generate rotor's magnetic field.

The slip is your torque. If the fields caught up the motor wouldn't spin. The phase angle of the difference generates torque though. The pull. A 4 pole "1740" RPM motor really runs at 1725 RPM. The lost RPM is the slip. Or something like that I'm sure.
