diy lemon cleaner 🍋✨

i’m learning that citrus peels, vinegar, and baking soda are kinda the queens of sustainable cleaning 👑 so before you think of tossing (or composting) those lemon peels, let’s extract every last drop of goodness from them! and instead of using those harsh chemicals that come in annoying plastic bottles, say hello to this natural, low-waste lemon vinegar cleaning solution! ✨
here’s the recipe:
1. Fill a glass jar with citrus peels (lemons, oranges, or limes work great! 🍊)
2. Pour white vinegar over the peels until they are fully submerged.
3. Seal the jar and let it sit for 1-2 weeks, allowing the citrus goodness to infuse into the vinegar.
4. After the wait, strain the liquid into a spray bottle (you can compost the peels now!)
5. Mix the lemon-infused vinegar with equal parts water, and voilà! ✨

Definitely dont use acid bases like Lemon on a granite top tho. Tile, wood, glass and ceramic i think should be fine.

granite is completely fine with vinegar it can withstand almost anything that won’t manage to shatter or crack it

and acid will damage soon that’s unfinished, waxed, or oiled so vinegar can only be used safely on sealed and finished wood

@@Deathbyfartz I know you're not the only one to say this, so I suppose I'm wrong. It's just when I made a homemade stovetop cleaner with lemon, the instructions clearly said not to use it on granite because the acid in the lemon could degrade the surface overtime which could lead to cracking

I have an all purpose cleaner that’s Dawn, white vinegar, and alcohol. I will ABSOLUTELY do this with vinegar next time I have enough lemon peels. Genius.

But isn’t the acid in the lemon juice? I thought the peel contained more of the essential oil 😅 whats cleaning is the vinegar, and the lemon mostly is helping with the fragrance

It's greasy from the lemon oil. I've done it with lemons and, oranges. Just buy something that has chemicals and, call it a day.

This does not have antimicrobial effects and while it might get rid of stains/smells it will not sanitize/sterilize a surface. You can look up online the amount of surface contact time necessary for 5% acetic acid (any vinegar you can buy in stores) to actually kill germs online very easily.

Acid and metals do not work together. This recipe would be great for wood, plastics, laminate, and possibly ceramics depending if it’s sealed or not. ❤️‍🩹

I've been using that for the last couple of years and when I tell you is the best cleaner I've ever used! And my favorite part is that my kitchen doesn't have a chemical smell in the counters ❤. I also use it instead of bleach for my whites
