DIY: Light Table

- IKEA Sniglar or Latt Table
- 2 Sets IKEA Dioder LED 4-piece Light Strip Set
- OPTIX Clear Acrylic Sheet .220 (18in x 24in)
- RUST-OLEUM Frosted Glass Finish
- Cleaning Spray and Rag
- Power Drill
- Velcro Strips
- Hot Glue
- Zip Ties
- Tape
- Scissors

Awsome IKEA hack. the table is multipurpose now. Led table! sand box! awsome! thanks for sharing i would love to see more projects, i loved this one. .... water table maybe? somehow making it waterproof idk.

If you put aluminum foil on the inside bottom (where it is currently white) it will make the light even brighter.

Commercial light boxes are all white inside. Same goes for photo light boxes. Aluminum or other shiny surfaces don't reflect light evenly, creating inconsistent brightness across the surface. A bit late for the original poster, but hopefully others will see this.

Nice table. One question: is the acryl sheet stable enough in the very middle of the table or does it bend when you try to press it down?

Hi this is great but why not just buy frosted acrylic? Is there an advantage to using clear then spraying it?

Hi Mat! My understanding is frosted acrylic is much more expensive than using the spray paint .

Looking to make one of these for my classroom, but had a question before I purchase the Latt table. How did you get the table top to be inverted? Since the instructions want you to have it with the white board on top and no deep space for the lights. Did you do the wood frame table top pieces upside down?
