If you use a smokey grey or some other color and then pour the epoxy an 1" thick, it will hide the differences even more.

So stained wood can be epoxied without bleeding color into epoxy?

I have milled a ton of slabs from trees and never ever came across one with laminations in it like isee in plywood. Its just too much trouble trying to get a look that will never happen. You are much better off getting a board made of sollid wood even if its a crappy piece of yellow pine with 23% moisture it it. Not trying to mean but just an opinion. I work with live edge stuff on a daily basis.

Time is money... way too much work and time to justify in my humble opinion. I’m leaning towards simply purchasing the real deal and using the time I’d have spent “massaging” plywood into live wood to install and use the live wood. Super interesting though!

Pretty sure the first piece did not come from the tree as it looks. It's fairly obvious the piece was fabricated as well, however, nice attempt. If only this on a larger scale actually looked good.
