DIY Living Room Makeover - Our First Home

Our living room was a clash of three different colours, and as the most important room of the house, we needed to bring it to life. For our living room makeover, we redid the flooring, painted the fireplace, and redecorated. Having a bigger living room meant that we had to upgrade some of our old apartment furniture. We'd always dreamed of having a sectional, and thanks to Article, we were able to bring in some game changing furniture that completely transformed the space. Redoing your floors I think was an excellent move. They are beautiful! I Redid my floors myself too. I don't see how you were cutting the boards. I used a professional grade table saw and it was a life saver. I love the rug you chose too but it covers so much of your beautiful floor. Good job!

These floors can be cut with a cutter, and it just snaps! For the intricate cuts, Stef used an oscillating tool

I love the new flooring, and the painted fireplace. But I also loved the grey walls that were there before, and it would have helped the couch stand out. I may have at least left just the one wall behind the couch the darker grey, and chose the white/light grey based on a tone that would go with it.

Love it. I even love to sit in the middle where the split is. If you like a firmer couch I highly recommend. The only thing is that the fabric pills and I needed to shave it once

@@letitiakiu thanks for the response! How firm is it? I saw another review that said it was “like sitting in a doctor’s office” comfortable but not lounge in lol would you agree or do you think it’s comfortable enough to sleep and lounge in all day?

@@kennsungaa I can spend all day on it happily! It depends on if you prefer sinking couches or not. Id say this is like a softer mattress in terms of density? I also prefer to sleep on firm mattresses for context. But because this couch doesn't have springs (or so I think) it doesn't have that hard bounciness. It's more an overfilled cushion feeling. Hope this helps 😅

Looks good, however, curtains need to touch the floor, artwork above couch needs to be nearly as long as it and 24” at least high, so it relates to furniture.

The previous owners kindly left us curtains, but I took them down right away because they were so short! And agreed, still waiting for bigger art! Would you say 24" above the furniture or above the floor?

He drilled floor screws into the joists to close the gap between the floor and joist! That’s what causes squeaking
