You can definitely do this with a sewing machine - you don’t have to get a serger. Just use the zig zag stitch on your machine :)

This method works best for stretchy fabrics I think! Some hoodie materials fray so you would probably need to fold over the edges and sew for the cropped hoodie!

Aw, thank you so much!💕 To make the pattern for the front bit just fold your shorts (or whatever you’re using to trace your pattern) towards the front that way you have adequate space for both sides if that makes sense.

Also for the waistband I would've unfolded the piece and then serge the seam close. Then fold back in half to attach to the shorts. That way it's even and that seam is not rubbing on your back...😊
