Learn how to make your phone or tablet charger more beautiful by decorating it with macrame knots! This is an easy DIY project to not only make your phone cable prettier, but to make it stronger as well. Please see below for materials and written instructions:
💛 My Guide to Macrame: graywonders.re...
🧵 ROPE USED:
- 3mm Braided Cotton Cord
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut your cord 9x the length of your phone cord. For example, my cord is 40in long, so I cut my rope 360in long.
Step 2: Find the middle of your cord and place it behind the phone cable. Begin tying the Spiral Knot, also called Half Square Knots.
(Tip: Bundle your rope ends and secure with a hair tie or rubber band to make it easier to mange the rope as you tie the knots)
Step 3: Once you have tied enough Spiral Knots to cover the whole phone cord, secure the ends with a Gathering Knot. Due this by using a 2nd rope measured 20in long.
Step 4: Trim all the remaining ends, and tuck any cords sticking out back under the gathering knot using a tapestry needle or other pointed object.
Your decorated phone cable is now complete! I hope you guys found this video helpful and inspiring, and thank you so much for watching.

It’s been so long since I’ve done macrame, great refresher! I was thinking about crocheting over mine, but I like this too. ❤

thanks for the video! i made 10 macrame bottles and want to put lights inside and hang them on a string. i bought a curtain of string lights and want to cover the base cord that connects the lights together so it looks better hanging from my ceiling.. im going to try this with the same hemp cording i did the bottles with will update on how it goes edit: i just finished, it came out great! the length of the cord i was covering was 9'8" which I rounded up to 10 feet. I measured out 90 feet of cord, which gave me 3 extra feet after rounding up. however when i finished i only had about 1 foot leftover! so to be safe i would do 10x the length of your cord if you use a thicker string like i did!

I saw on another tutorial that you want to times your cord by your wire 10 times, if that makes sense. Eg. For a 1-metre wire you'd need 12 metres of cord Hope this helps 😁

I don't know why, but ever since I made this, my charger works better and charges faster... It's weird but I'm not lying, so I recommend you doing this if you have problems with your charging speed.

Beautiful tutorial. Thank you! I'm just starting out with macrame, so I'm not very good at pricing anything. I know that it would depend on the length of the cord, but there's usually 3 ft, 6 ft, and 10 ft cords. Does anybody know what I would charge for each of them? 🤦‍♀️

i would charge the regular price of the charger +7 (depending on how long the charger is of course)

does the binding knot stay solid? I usually work in paracord, we normally finish things by snipping and melting the ends. but this would be a good alternative for some things I just wouldn't want it to come off

I am wondering about this as well. I am starting out using sock weight knitting yarn, because that's what I have at home. I am wondering if it will stay at the top and bottom of the cord, or if I should be using some sort of adhesive. I'm also having a hard time doing a gathering knot with this fine gauge wool yarn. I am open to any suggestions anyone has for finishing!!! :D

Is there a foolproof (or at least generally accepted) way to keep it flat instead of twisting?
@GrayWonders
@GrayWonders Жыл бұрын
Tying a full square knot will keep it flat. In this tutorial we tied half square knots to have it twist 😊

@@GrayWonders Thank you!!! I'm just a hapless knitter trying to organize some cords. I couldn't have even told you what macrame was if you'd asked me this morning 😬 got a nice full square going on my phone charger now though, thanks to you!!! I wouldn't have even known where to begin Googling without this comment 😁

@markmullinsii7026

if its turning out flat instead of twisted then you are alternating which sides come over the top instead of just bringing one side over and over. when its flat it's a cobra knot. kinda like rowing a boat. do it all on one side and you spin do it evenly and you'll stay straight.
