The double half hitch knot tip is blowing my mind lol. Conceptually, I've always known that it's just the holding cord strung through two loops from each working cord. But since the knot is worked in two 'stages', I couldn't quite visualize how the individual loops would be arranged on a 'zoomed out' scale. Thank you for displaying it so well!

Oh it took me quite some time to figure it out as well or rather to be able to repeat it the same way every time and then to actually do it fast.

The third one had my jaw on the FLOOR. Literally lol. Such a great tip, thank you so much for sharing!! For the first one: I used to do it just like you said, the roll of yarn just laying on the sofa and falling down all the time (poor downstairs neighbors lol) To make it even faster I'm doing a makeshift "distance measurement" by sticking 2 poles into my bookshelf and wrap the rope between them to have many ropes :)

For 1st hack - i use 2 carabiner clips with a rope, then fish it thru the roll, and put back on 2nd clip to it hangs, then it is easy to get your cord measurements easily cut. The 3rd hack tip is awesum, it may take some time to figure out the proper way, LOL, but agree it will save the most time. Thanks so much, as i do work with long cords in pixel art. Will be much faster

In fiber arts, we call that holder a Lazy Kate. It holds spools and bobbins really well. Easy DIY ones can be made with a knitting needle or dowel pushed through holes in the sides of a cardboard box. Love the knotting tip. It'll definitely make things faster and more efficient.

@@annabaginova01 I'm gonna ask. if you can help great... if not... thats OK too. I have a project using 5mm cord cut at 10'. I want to make same project using 2mm cord. I have no clue how to adjust cord cut lengths. is there a sorta simple way to estimate how long to cut cords?
@annabaginova013 жыл бұрын
@@debihinkle6100 This is always a bit tricky. As long as you won’t be changing the design (adding more cords, etc.) I think you can cut more or less the same length, maybe slightly shorter, like 10-20% less. But you need to know that if you are using thinner cords your finished piece will be smaller.

Thank you so much for these tips! I am brand-new at doing macrame-in fact, I am about to start my first macrame panel. I have been doing a number of types of crafts (quilting, knitting, crocheting, etc.) for the past 53 years, so it’s time to start something new. They say, “Don’t work harder; work smarter!” I feel like that’s what you are helping us to do. I have no one to make me a cord spool holder, for cutting the lengths of cord, but I wonder if a standing paper towel holder would serve the same purpose. I hope that’s a tip maybe someone else can latch onto. 😊
@emmasurf8768 Жыл бұрын
I was using a standing one but it's easy to tip over. I found a paper towel holder that has a magnetic back that's meant to fit on the refrigerator and in using they. As long as you have something metal for it to click onto(like a cabinet or desk) you can use it anywhere.

Thanks so much Anna! The double half hitch hack is a total game changer. I'm just getting started in macrame. I've made hundreds of paracord projects so tying knots is not a new thing. I will say however, macrame is a different experience and skill set. Some of the skills apply but it's different. Your videos are so professionally produced and the content is most informative. Great job all around.

Thank you so much 🙂 I am always really happy to hear that people notice not just the projects but also the way I film, edit, etc. That's really interesting to know how the paracord experience compares to the macrame one, if you want to share more details or examples I would be curious to know what exactly the differences are.

Just discovered your videos and am enjoyed watching. Tip #3 is a great time saver that i will definitely be using. One thing i always do with long cords so i am not pulling the whole length of the cord thru each time is "butterfly" rolling the ends up & securing with rubber bands. The cord is easily pulled from the bundle as u need more length. I had watched another of your videos of items needed & was surprised u didn't list rubber bands.

Yes, I use that one all the time, but it does take some time to get used to. I know what you mean with the rolling up of the cords and that's certainly helpful as well I just don't use that very often. I find that the best use for that is when I am working on spiral knots from really long cords which I haven't done in a while.

Good tips! I'll use the first one for sure! I have no trouble with the longer ropes for I shorten them into small figure-eight bundles and I can gently pull the cord from them as I need to.

Thank you for the tips! I just made a Macramé curtain 5 feet wide and about 7 feet long but I just finished it too bad I didn’t know that tip earlier but I’m still going to use it
