Love these wall hangings. It's amazing how dramatic a little yarn , a stick and some beads can be. I have a ton of interesting sticks I've collected when out with my dogs but no yarn. Will be on the hunt for sale yarn or cording. I really appreciate you showing us all you're doing. Very talented gal!

These are the most beautiful wall hangings I’ve ever seen. I’m going to do some of these types of hangings for my new house, but first Christmas presents. They look so natural, but sophisticated/refined at the same time. Hobby Lobby & Michaels here I come. Seriously, these look exquisite!

Our styles are very different but you’re one of the only KZbin designers that inspire me. You have a lot of elements I love and get me thinking of how I can make them my own. Like all those yarns besides the orange and that branch 😍 Your stuff is always nicely done, especially your thrift flips. None of them look cheap or tacky.

On the second project with the 2 round rings, I saw you made an addition at the top, above the wood that you did not provide instructions for 😳 I guess I can guess at how to do it but I’m a beginner and it was a little disappointing since I’d planned to create one today. Your projects are very beautiful and you have an amazing eye for style and originality.
@XOMaCenna5 жыл бұрын
Hi!!! Yes I did add some yarn to the inside of the ring at the end to kinda feel that space. I can totally walk you through it ... -Cut 4 strands of yarn each 30” in length -Gather them together and fold all 4 in half to make a loop in the middle (all 4 strands are looped together -Make a larks head knot with all 4 strands at the top of the circle around your hanging stand we did in step one. -let the strands hang down to the bottom of the circle behind the stick - separate each strand about 3/4” and attach them to the circle with a simple knot. The knots will be hidden as the bottoms of the circle is covered by the wooden stick where your main macrame will be. I hope that makes sense 🤗 if not DM me on Instagram @macennalee and I will video a quick tutorial of it for you 🤗

I truly love these! Boho, rustic, textural, unpredictable/organic, reasonably affordable and easy. Great chance to get artsy (fun + a handmade vibe), make it unique, and easily establish or reinforce the exact room color palette desired. I'm thinking maybe a wide one above bed or couch or dining area, including some glittery metallic strands (or someone needing beaded curtain in a doorless doorway could maybe make one of these?). It reminds me of the vibe of rag rugs, which I love. Hmm...could you DIY rag rugs?!

Once the stores here opened from the Covid shut down I beelined to the thrift stores for yarns to make these. I hit the motherload at, of all places, the Habitat for Humanity re-store! I got a Uhaul wardrobe box crammed full of all kinds of gorgeous skeins of yarn. There are hardly any skeins of simple single color yarns but tons of chunky, ultra unique and even 8 skeins of angora yarn! I feel like the luckiest person alive!! Edited to add: That box of yarn was $20!

Dear M. You totally inspired me! Your makrame are just so much my style! One question though. How do you treat the wood sticks before using them? I read a lot about having to boil them for hours or bleaching them for days which i totally haven’t got the time to do! Thoughts?
@XOMaCenna5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😘💕 that is such a good question!! Honestly I didn’t treat the wood and I wouldn’t have the patience for that either 🤣 I just made sure the wood pieces were really dryed out and cleaned with a damp cloth before the project. I’m not quite sure but maybe the boiling method preserves the wood for a longer period of time. 🤷🏼♀️ definitely let me know if you found out more info about it 🤗

XO, MaCenna hey!! I know you answered this 6 months ago, I don’t want to wait on the wood to “dry out” ...is yours still doing good?
