Love the ornaments specially the one with the picture of your dad. My dad was also in the Korean War and passed away 2 years ago. Two uncles passed away also the same year. That's a nice way to remember them shining on a Christmas tree. Thanks.

Thank you Sweetie! Yes, I'm all about glitter and bling! LOL! :o) The only thing I wished I would have done differently in this video was to cut out two star shapes, then stagger them and glue them together like I did in my layered star ornament tutorial. Oh well! Hindsight is always 20/20, huh? :o) ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to you!

KraftyScorpio Thank you Sweetie! Yes, my dad died of cancer as well. It started in his lungs, then spread to his colon. He fought it for 5 years (which is a very long time) but when it reached his pancreas, he went very quickly. I miss him terribly. He was my best friend.

Awww! I'm so sorry about your husband Sweetie. God bless you! It was therapeutic for me when I made the ornament of my Dad. This may sound silly, but when I see his face on the Christmas tree, I don't feel like he is so far away. HUGS back at ya Hun!

Angela Thank you so much for your kind comment, Angela! :o) Yes, my dad was my best friend and great supporter of my crafts. Every time I would show him something new I made, he would say the same thing... "Honey, you could sell that!" I would always laugh and tell him that I wasn't into crafting to sell things. I liked to make them for friends and family and teach others how to do the same.

You do beautiful work and make it so easy. I like the star. I am in process making your snowflakes right now. I decided to give out this year and it is so much enjoyment to make them. I watch at least 3 to 4 times a week to see if you have made anything. Are you planning on making any angels? I love to give to shutins. I love to fix pictures of family members, great project. Thank you

What glitter technique did you use for the faithful ornament? I like the frosted look where you you can still see the picture.

Catherine Dodd Hi Catherine, I brushed the ornament with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic and then immediately sprinkled the Recollection brand ultra fine glitter in the color "Glitz." Hope this helps! :o)

Thank you for sharing. You have wonderful ideas that don't cost a whole lot. Did you scan your Dad's pic in your computer and then print it? Such a wonderful idea that I would like to make of my husband who passed 12 years ago for my children. They would enjoy sharing Christmas with Dad watching over them on their tree each Christmas. Love your videos.

@HappyBirdsGlitterNest10 жыл бұрын
KraftyScorpio Hi KraftyScorpio! :o) I'm not sure how the dimensional magic would work brushed over napkins, but I would definitely test it to find out. :o)
@Creations-By-Craty-E9 жыл бұрын
does it have to be dimensional mod podge or could u use regular one
@HappyBirdsGlitterNest9 жыл бұрын
+Heather Egnor You could use any kind of resin based gloss sealer, such as Glossy Accents by Ranger or Aleene's Paper Glaze. The regular Mod Podge with the orange label will not work as well. Thanks for watching! :o)
@rujankatjac10 жыл бұрын
I tried using regular modge podge over ink jet pictures and the ink smeared. I guess dimensional magic must be the trick. Thank you so much for this wonderful idea and tutorial. We had a sudden death (car accident) in the family this week, so this was a very timely idea.
@HappyBirdsGlitterNest10 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruth, Yes, regular Mod Podge will not work over ink jet ink because it is basically a thick white glue. It will soak in and cause the ink to bleed. Mod Podge Dimensional Magic is a clear resin and when a think coat is brushed over the photo, it not only causes the picture to "pop"" with color, it dries very quickly. In addition, make sure you allow your freshly printed ink jet photos to set and cure for at least a couple of hours. I think you will be happy with the next results!

That's a good tip about using colored glue stick. I enjoy watching your videos. They are so relaxing. Do you have any tips on how to keep glue sticks from drying out so fast when you're not using them? I can buy one but if I don't use it in 3 months it dries out wasting money.
@HappyBirdsGlitterNest10 жыл бұрын
S Mcclain Hi S Mcclain, I'm not sure of the brand of glue sticks you are using. Maybe that has something to do with it? I store my glue sticks in a cool area of the house and I always make sure the lids are screwed on tight after each use. Generally, glue sticks will start to dry out after a couple of years. Maybe this is the problem?

Sorry for your loss. My dad passed away many years ago when I was 17. I still miss him. I named my son after him. Another idea is to make ornaments with pictures of pets. I think a lot of people would really like this, as, like me, they consider their pets their children too.
