Not bad! A few tips from a professional tile & bath contractor: 1) Backerboard should ALWAYS be put down with thinset everywhere underneath. Thinset is necessary for proper support. Also, if there's low spots, it should be corrected with self leveler. Not floated with thinset. I personally use an uncoupling membrane such as DITRA for my tile underlayment. Faster, easier, & better performance than backerboard. And on a floor that small, the extra cost is just a few dollars. 2) Although the tub walls will likely not see much water, you probably would have used some kind of waterproofing over the sheetrock such as KERDI. Or even used 1/2" backerboard with a liquid waterproofing membrane. 3) I saw that your dad was actually back buttering all the tiles. Excellent! Lots of folks (even some "pros") skip this crucial step. Proper mortar coverage is insanely important for tile project to actually last.
@abistrawberries5 жыл бұрын
Hi what is back buttering please?

One of the best diy videos for a remodel on KZbin. Great work and great learning lesson! Plumbing, tile & wood work cause be a learning struggle and very intimidating that’s why people fork over so much money for these projects but yours came out wonderful and added great equity. Congrats

I am ever so impressed with your bathroom. Now it looks amazing. I moved into my home in 2010 and my kitchen floor was wet. It took my builder two weeks to get it dry again. I had a Disabled Facilities Grant to create a new shower room. I miss not having a bath. While the work was being done we stayed at a hotel and it had a bath which I loved using.

This was an awesome video. I loved how you shared all of your ups and downs and unexpected turns throughout the process. And the different camera angles were probably my favorite part of the whole video.😂 Great project! The end results are unreal! Especially considering how much you paid versus how much professionals would have charged. Nice to see people give others different options and perspectives.👏🏾👌🏾

Great job! My husband just gutted our master bathroom, let’s see how long it takes him. We’ve had the vanity for over 2 years plus all the materials. It’s just I developed Non Hodgkin lymphoma and going through the treatment and recovery for a couple of years. And god bless him for being there taking care of me while still having to work. He’s finally able to do this for us he says. I hope ours looks as nice as yours. Which I’m sure it will. But great job! :)

Great job man! I'm starting to plan a bathroom reno myself and this was helpful. Only difference is i want to break the wall down to about the tile line between the shower and tub. Fortunately, in my setup, the shower is on the right side and the water lines all run to the outside walls not the the in between one. I have yet to find a video that shows that process haha
