This Is great. Genius the way you did the hanging racks so they are adjustable and need way less holes to be drilled. Many thanks.

@@munromakers-projectsandout2681 Nice, easy to follow presentation. Kudos. I just built one following your instructions. But one question, please: Should the fan blow INSIDE OR OUTSIDE the box? Thanks.
@munromakers-projectsandout2681
@munromakers-projectsandout2681 5 жыл бұрын
Victor Osa Asemota hey victor, the fan should be drawing the air out of the box (extracting), not blowing air inside as this will allow dust and dirt to be blowen on the meat.
@tonymontana897
@tonymontana897 3 жыл бұрын
@@viqwinner As stated by the man himself. With the fans being on the top, you "induce" air in from the bottom and vent it out through the top. That way, there is an even distribution of air across each piece of meat.

As a South African outdoors youtuber, I like hunting and this video has given me a recipe for making my own venison biltong. We normally go hand the carcass in at the butcher but I think this season I'll try making my own. Just on a bigger scale because a wildebeest gives me about 80kg's of meat to make biltong with! Great video!
@munromakers-projectsandout2681
@munromakers-projectsandout2681 5 жыл бұрын
hey brother, cheers for watching the video, have enjoyed watching your videos also. Awesome! 80 kgs of meat is definitely a bigger operation - think you'd be better off with a plywood box and bathroom extractor fan (instead of computer fan) for that size, can send you a building plan for it if you like? would love to hunt a wildebeest, you guys have so much more game in south africa then us in New Zealand

@@munromakers-projectsandout2681 Thanks for watching one of my videos as well. I'm going hunting on the 20th of June so then I'll have this years hunting series coming out😁 And yeah what we normally do if we dry the biltong is hang everything from our garage roof with fans everywhere. This gives you the most space but then you have to be constantly on fly watch to make sure no flies get close to the meat. At least we only hand it ourselves in the winter so flies are at a minimum. Thinking of making a video of the whole drying and hanging process would you be interested in watching that kind of video? And yeah I want to come hunt a big bull tahr there in NZ one day. I want to hike in and hunt and get up close and personal with them😁 Yeah I'm blessed to live where I live! You must save up then make a trip to come hunt up here😁 if you know biltong hunter locals (like me) hunting does not have to be sooo expensive as it would be through an outfitter😉 Oo and yes please send me that building plan would love to give it a go😁

awesome, will the series be for your youtube channel? i only started my channel start of this year so in the next couple of months i will have some hunting and fishing videos up, about new zealand species. yea man would be really interested in checking out a video like that, we have hung meat and dried it with mesh fabric netting over it to keep the flies off before! that could work for you guys? yea definitely on the list, some of my close mates live in durban so have been meaning to get to SA for ages, will have to hit you up for a hunt, and if you ever come to NZ mate let me know and i'll take you out for that Tahr. will find you on facebook or insta and send you some plans

I'm from South Africa but have moved to the Netherlands and have been looking to make a biltong box. First time I'll be doing it so thanks for the video, really well explained! Though I was still wondering about the fans, if you need netting there as well to keep the bugs out, or if its not needed because the fan itself should do that since its extracting air out? Then second question is if you have the fan running constantly over the 3 or 4 days? Since it's cooler weather in NL I'm going to try with fan only first, and then later add a lamp if its not working well enough. I also like my biltong a bit more dry - the snapsticks are my favourite.

edvinbar hey mate, I’m in quite a warm climate so I don’t need a light during summer! A light is used to warm the air not cook the meat, in winter once it gets cooler I will install a light!

@@munromakers-projectsandout2681 haha I actually tried my first homemade biltong today. Texture was good, taste was nothing to write home about, and I'm not sick. So that's a start.
