wow. Great idea for a project. I really need to buy myself a magnetic work clamp for my everlast welder. that looked really handy in your video.

Quick follow up: if those were zinc coated - you should remove zinc first ( it can be very toxic to weld) - though it looks like stainless?
@FireHeartProjects3 жыл бұрын
All these washers are stainless as well as the wire. Its possible to weld through a thick zinc coating but a respirator is a must, like you say it is very toxic!
@MrVectrexUK2 жыл бұрын
Can I ask what sort of disk you used in your angle grinder to remove the welds and get a basic clean up done? And then also, what was that polishing wheel you used to get a better finish?
@FireHeartProjects2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I used a flap disc to remove the welds and smooth everything out. something like this, probably an 80 grit. www.walter.com/products/-/producttradename/abrasives/blending/enduro-flex for polishing I used a large brass brush wheel mounted in a drill, something like this; www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-flat-wire-wheel-brush-coarse-4-in-0541317p.html#store=18 Thanks for watching! check out my newer videos, cheers!

Thanks for posting, is that flux core or MIG? Any issues with using flux core?

Hi Bob, I used Mig with shielding gas. No problem using Mig, Fluxcore, Tig, Stick... Any welding process will work! Thanks for watching and please check out my newer updated videos! 🤘

Not long, maybe an hour max. Thanks for watching Bob!

These are stainless steel coated washers? I was looking to do something similar but was told to use plain steel washers? Any thoughts? Did you use a specific welding material to weld stainless?
@FireHeartProjects6 жыл бұрын
These are solid stainless steel washer, stainless is not a coating, it is a grade of metal and needs stainless welding wire to weld. I wouldnt use plain washers, they are zinc coated which is not food safe and bad to weld

Important question, what kind of gloves are those? Do they work well for mig? And awesome work!! Also where do you purchase the magnetic clamp?? Thanks!!
@FireHeartProjects8 жыл бұрын
They are LincolnElectric Tig gloves, and yes they work well as long as youre not welding anything extreme. Thank you! I got mine at a canadian hardware store called Home Hardware, im sure you can find it on amazon though.

Dumb question: why heat it with MAP gas before paint? Something to do with bluing?
@FireHeartProjects8 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Moore yes the heating was just to give it that burnt blue/orange steel look, and a coat of clearcoat after for extra protection.
@Justone1778 жыл бұрын
+WeldedWoodWorks makes sense, just never thought about it like that. I'd been doing more forging, but got into machining and welding recently, so I just learned about bluing as a protective process

I have a project in mind that will have a lot of compound curves and I'm thinking of how to support it as I weld. Has anyone ever used modeling clay to weld on? I imagine modeling the shape I want and then placing the pieces to weld onto the clay as I work along. Would that work or no? Thanks in advance. I loved this video!!!
@emso89643 жыл бұрын
I was just wondering this myself. Did you ever try it? Also I wonder what will happen if you use an ovenproof dish to weld on for the bowl shape like pyrex or ceramic
@FireHeartProjects3 жыл бұрын
Hi! A pyrex bowl would work fine as long as its real ovenproof pyrex. I use TIG welding cups made of pyrex!
