With the locking latch that you have chosen, please keep in mind the potential for people to be mischievous...when you are going inside for the night, be sure to put the lock into the clasp to prevent someone from putting the clasp onto the eyebolt and "inconveniencing" you. Very nice simple build.

@gregwood71203 жыл бұрын
you could make it so it fits on a uhaul railer or the back of a truck bed.dual purpose build.you could pull it behind a car on a small triler or in a truck box.

Suggestions : use netting to hold stuff on shelf...………..put a piece of plywood on the floor that hinges 1/2 way up the bed ; gets bedding out of th way so you can put toys or coolers while traveling , you might want to put a huge drawer the size of the bed floor under the bed .

You can put a truck rubber mat under and the camper won't move. Great job

The tie-bond three is waterproof can you use that for the poor man fiberglass?? JW if you can Rhino line the poor man fiberglass? Love the build came out really nice 👍🏿 thanks
@Dicks4x4Garage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don’t see why tite bond 3 wouldn’t work, I used 2, because I seen that it worked good. I’m not sure about the rhino liner.

I could have built two frames with all the lumber. It way to heavy wood. Seriously, those beams could have been half the thickness and you still would have a strong and solid structure foundation.

So question I want to build one like this after you cover the wood with the canvas what glue did you use and do you just paint it after and your good to go?
@rowerwet3 жыл бұрын
Poor man's fiberglass doesn't need glue, find some exterior house paint from the oops rack, roll it on super thick, then lay the canvas into the paint and smooth it out. Fill the fabric with more coats of paint until it remains shiny wet after a few minutes, then paint with the color you want He used titebond II wood glue
@Nodeelite4 жыл бұрын
Would you use titebond 2 or titebond 3 now on the cotton
@Dicks4x4Garage4 жыл бұрын
I think 3 would work, but 2 was cheaper!

Where did you get the windows, and what model are they?

From an RV dealership. One is a Lippert, the other is a Winnebago.

Where does everybody source their windows and doors. I would like to find a door that is 48-60” tall max.

Also...looking for good dome type lights that work off aa or aaa batteries with built in switches. Wish I could find those solar powered one piece exterior lights but with a switch instead of a sensor. May have to modify stuff. Funny thing is that I am an electrician, but don’t want to complicate my future build with a charge controller, large battery, large solar panel, wiring, water pump etc. Just something like the micro campers that are no wider than the bed of my 1/2 ton pickups, with a comfy bed, insulation, basic storage and so on for mostly solo 1-4 night trips.
@rowerwet3 жыл бұрын
We just use battery powered tap lights for interior lighting, I got them at harbor freight, they have three levels and swivel to aim the beam. I build my own windows, search for "Wiley window"

@smokeydabeecharlescoleman83653 жыл бұрын
I believe you would have gotten more space, a lighter build and more usage had you built it as a cap. Definitely would have more floor space. Just have the tailgate but up to it, lock the tailgate from inside with a pin. Nice looking build, but I think you are selling yourself short.
@DROY20044 жыл бұрын
Why not save the labor on toutside, instead of sanding, glueing, use spray on or roll on, bed liner, ur choice of color, use aluminum angle to do all edges it’s 3m putty type weather sealer, no fabric, no sanding, no gluing, Shalom!
@Dicks4x4Garage4 жыл бұрын
It’s a good thought and I had thought of that as well. After some research I found that people who used it on micro trailers had problems with it no sticking to the wood and basically creating a shell on the exterior that overtime started to crack.
