As I was just considering paying someone umpteen dollars to install my microlocs you’ve given me the knowledge I’ve been searching for to install my own and save all that money! I started braidlocs on my daughter, but I may redo them because you made it look much more manageable. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see the final product! AND can you share how you prepped your hair. What did you wash with, did you let it air dry, etc. THANKS!!

I started with braidlocs but after a year and a half the braid pattern was still visible, I didn’t like that. I took out the braided portion that remained and two strand twisted the hair. Good luck to u!!

You are smart, cute, funny, and patient AF and I’m living for your locks 🔐

I admire your determination and will! You will be my spirit animal, because 2 strand twists almost put me down. I do them small and have been natural for over 10 years. I want sister/microlocks but I don't have the money for the install without loosing some inches.. So I'll watch your journey cause I'm not cutting my hair just to get them done, and I don't have the patience for this. You are AMAZING!!
@joh.n4 жыл бұрын
im only upset because you aren't finished yet which means now I gotta wait too 😂😂 I love this though. im trying to decide if I want microlocs or sister locks, and seeing you do them yourself is really inspirational.. maybe ill try do my own?? I definitely don't have as much hair so it wouldn't take as long, but do I have the patience...…. lmao
@SuperKiona1234 жыл бұрын
I've taken out interlocks, I also did it on completely dry hair but I used a comb with a metal parting piece or "rat tail" piece. I slowly detangled through the interlock pattern and any knot I got to I would use my fingers to gently pull the hair apart. Just a few other tips for anyone thinking about doing it.
@buffytheinternetbullyslayer4 жыл бұрын
SuperKiona123 how long were they loced for?
@SuperKiona1234 жыл бұрын
@@buffytheinternetbullyslayer About a month to 2 months. My hair is very kinky and already began to loc and tangle so I had to go slow to be sure I wasnt damaging my hair as it came out. I cant speak for those who have interlocked for any longer though.

Watch your whole series all the way through and decided to start my own journey...figured out your parting method and used it on myself and it is going pretty well.... I have a lot of hair but my strands are very thin and silky so I am going with the 3 point method, praying this turns out well and it doesn’t take long as my hair is at 14 inches🙏🏾🙏🏾 P.S. The beginning was soooo hilarious when your hair got tangled, I hollered 🤣🤣🤣🤣

To take out locs, water and conditioner and patience are necessary. Dry hair breaks easily. I speak from experience. I combed out my first set of locs last April to May 2019 and the water and conditioner helped greatly.

I love your name Eleem, when I was a kid I used to write my name almost sounding like that..becuz I wrote it backwards, Melanie/Einalem your name reminds me of those younger years in grade school driving my teacher crazy with my left hand and dyslexia. You're very detailed, and precise, so very interesting, glad I found your channel.

I’ve been waiting for your upload! I’ve always wanted locs but I’m on a pretty strict schedule so parting in braids and interlocking one section after the other like you’re doing has been really helpful. Thanks for the great idea! I’m still not done lol but it’s turning out great just like yours😃

You are doing a great job. Not many videos are as detailed as you are or show as much of the process. Thank you for the detail. My husband has interlocked locs that I maintain and it's a lot. So if you were tired if the style would you shave it or take them all out over a long time?
@QueenEleem4 жыл бұрын
Great question! I’d shave it all of and do a twa. The process of combing it out could take me over a year. And my hair is very soft and delicate and breaks easily so I would rather just start from scratch if I absolutely had to. But I highly doubt I’ll ever tire of it.

Teresa Taylor it took me around three and a half days to self install mine. I think she’s being a lot more intricate than most self install micro loc-ers. The most time you will ever spend on these type of locs is the first installment. After that you get two months rest before doing your new growth and that can be done in a day 🤷🏾♀️

Is it better to have a professional loctician do your micro locs if you can’t do it yourself?
@QueenEleem7 ай бұрын
If you can’t do them yourself of course! Just make sure they’ve done Microlocs and ask them what is the best way to start? If they don’t say interlocks then find someone else, even if you don’t want interlocks. Interlocks are the most efficacious and they should be able to counsel you on that even if you’re sure you want twistlocs or braid locs
