I use henna to dye the follicles. I just make sure to use body art quality henna with a fine sift. Usually henna from mehandi. I make it very loose the mixture and use a handheld immersion blender to make it runny. I let the henna sit for 4-5 hours for dye release and then apply it only on the front hairline and where I part my hair (middle and two sides). I let the henna sit for 4-5 hours and then dunk my hair in a bucket or loc spa basin. I rinse it well and use diluted conidtioner (sisterlocks moisture treatment) dilute it until its runny like water to get any leftover out. I wash after 3 days when the henna is done oxidizing. and they look reddish brown and I cant see them. This makes the bulbs match my locs that are already sun bleached to a reddish brown. Also it took my hair 4 or 5 years to drop it grew out until then. It finally started to grow down. I think you have about another 6 mos to a 1yr before yours drop probably because you have so many and its dense. I dont think theyve dropped just yet.

Great video! I'm installing diy microlocs at the moment and I'm wondering: are microlocs that are 1 cm or a little over that size in diameter considered too large for microlocs?

Maybe henna made extra runny so it rinses out easy along the hairline and your part will dye the bulbs and follicles. Blended with water/green tea with an immersion handheld blender so its not powdery. You want body art quality that has a fine sift. Ive seen dozens of loc'd and micro loc'd ladies use it to dye grays

Did you end up finding a loctician or you kept self retying? I have a loctician, she reties too tight, doesn’t use water, and when I asked if she could use the plastic universal loc tool if I buy it for her she said that would feel the same as the metal loc tool she uses that gets dragged through this particular loc at my crown because the tool is too big lol so I’m wanting to start DIY reties soon for scalp health. If you hired a loctician did you like the experience?
@QueenEleemАй бұрын
I went to a loctician near me but she’s pretty new. She helped me do 1/3 of my locs so I’ll probably continue going to her for help but not a full Reti until she gets used to a hook took over a needle tool. And yes I really don’t like the crochet hook tool bc it constantly snags…. So that’s a reason I personally avoid using it… I’d ask ppl in your area with sisterlocks/Microlocs if they’re loctician takes transfers

If you don’t mind me asking, how long do your reties take nowadays and was that hard to manage during PA school? I’m thinking about cutting my locs because I miss the fullness of my loose hair and don’t think I am ever going to have time to retie my hair during school😮💨 (pharm is a BEAST) Also your hair is beautiful😍
@QueenEleemАй бұрын
My returns probably take 14 hours. I split them up over a week while I watch tv. During pa school I would Reti my hair while studying. To study I would do practice questions. Honestly one of the reasons I got through pa school was bc I locd my hair. Having it like this is SOOOOO much easier than having it loose but that’s person to person.

@QueenEleem2 ай бұрын
Nope not heavy at all. This is actually one of my most commonly asked questions so not silly at all. There’s no added product so that’s one of the reasons my hair is relatively light

Hi there! I’m seriously thinking about DIY my sista locks or micro locks. I too have 4c hair and yes please explain the 4 rotation in more detail.

Congratulations! You have made very extensive micro loc tutorials! I cut my SLs two years ago. I have sporting my hair loose. I decided to loc again. Since COVID, it seems very hard to find a SL consultant or a micro loc loctician that will not nickel and dime you for a install. I refuse to pay $1200-$2000! I 'am in NY! I` am so happy I found you and Tay La Dawn! You both gave me the inspiration to install microlocs myself. I bought my Loc buddy's book, THE KNOTTY TRUTH. (I still have her original book) I purchased your eBook. I needed to know how to customize my grid. Your book was on point! Thank you for taking the time to create these tutorials! The DYI Community is grateful. I 'am grateful!

@@QueenEleem Yes! I have a blog at blog spot. I was the first to reveal the different rotations and how to start a interloc visually on KZbin. I was trolled by the SL cult! I did not care! Learning to do it yourself is fundamental! Any way, my hair is 4'-5". It will be a challenge keeping the parts separated and straight. I` am looking forward to my new journey. The key is to have the knowledge to have control over your hair! Thank you again! I will keep you updated!😍
