Putting the entire head of the machine in the vice on the xy table, and then using it to machine itself 🤯 you never cease to amaze me 👏👏

Thanks! Probably it was last one of "crazy setups" in this build.

For being a homemade version of a Bridgeport, it's an awesome machine.

That great my friend for a homemade CNC Machine that you have done amazing 😊😊😊

@@mr.ranyhomemade2466 my friend it's not CNC machine. It just electric power feed from PWM controller. Movement can't be set to exact dimensions of workpiece.

Glad to see the angle grinder again. a small note, either the motor or VFD making that high pitched whine makes segments of the video difficult to watch. It may be worth seeing if that sound can be reduced on the machine, which will increase usability, or at the very least reducing the sound in editing using noise filters or ducking the audio. Looking forward to seeing what this machine can make with these improvements
@SteelCraft993 ай бұрын
Thanks for comment. I will play with carrier frequency in vfd if nothing helps then I will filter it in video postproduction as you said. This sound isn't that bad in real life, microphone makes it worse.

Very nice work. Looking like a good mill

Nice! Big improvement in vibrations. Ready for some 50/63 face mill cuts hehehe. PD. Also nice poor mans powerfeed! If it did the job, is good enough

as always, *amazing!* lol, you need a fly-cutter.
@josephwaldner77523 ай бұрын
the setup in the vise would have needed to be tramed extremely well otherwise it would have machined a concave surface, the same effect scaled down to the diameter of an end mill given the relative precision on the rest of the machine is negligible
@SteelCraft993 ай бұрын
@@josephwaldner7752Exactly! with using small diameter tool with small steps (the smaller the better) you can achieve quite good and flat surface without tramming head with very high precision. Also setup of whole turret in vise jaw wasn't very rigid so it was better to keep cutting forces low as possible.

Are you going to release plans?
@SteelCraft992 ай бұрын
Probably not, it would be very complex and time consuming task to prepare real plans of whole machine
@richardsargent1138 күн бұрын
Would you have plans available?
@SteelCraft995 күн бұрын
I don't know. Preparing full professional plans is a lot of work.

@SteelCraft99 if you could find a drafstmen to draw it and split the money I think it would be worth it.

Hi. Why you use ball bearings, not taper roller bearings? Taper roller bearings, as I think better choice for milling head: easier to adjust preload, stronger and cheaper, than high quality ball bearings. For press fit bearings I often use hot gun is better for bearings and for spindle bearings places
@SteelCraft993 ай бұрын
Changing to taper roller bearing demands changes in quill. Lathe needed.

@@SteelCraft99 OK, understand. Do you make video with accuracy measure of XYZ axis travel? Next project is a big diy lathe?
@SteelCraft993 ай бұрын
DIY lathe would be nice and fun project, but not big, max 500 mm between centers.
@ZVO19963 ай бұрын
@@SteelCraft99 You need 38mm or more spindle bore for comfort work with short distance between centers. I have small lathe 350mm from chuck to live center, about 420 between dead centers and bore of spindle 16mm, and this makes trouble when you need cut off or turning sizes, bigger than 16mm. I am sure that your next project, thanks to the experience and knowledge gained in the manufacture of a milling machine, will be just as interesting and educational. We are looking forward to it!
