DIY MINI PVC overflow for smaller size tank [Tutorial]

I will be showing you how to build a DIY Aquarium overflow just by using PVC pipes. This overflow is the mini version of the bigger poop separator overflow.
This is an alternative method if you are not able to drill any holes in your main tank due to various reason and still want to have a filtration system using a sump tank.
Remember to glue your PVC pipes once the fitting and size is confirmed and give it a good coat of paint of your own liking to make it look like a professionally build overflow!

I didn't get how hose helps continue the flow.🤔 since it will sucks the air. I tried but failed 😞

@EggSpotTank when water rises, it will suck the water in, when the overflow is filled with water 100% then the overflow will function 100%. And when the water level reduces, air will get sucked in thus breaking the water siphon.

Thanks for the kind words. 25mm pipe, should do well in most tank. But if u have a smaller tank (less than 2 feet), you can consider 20mm. The measurement that I've mentioned are the exact size of the outer diameter of the pvc pipe.

Hi! Thank you for this more in-depth video. Did the siphon overflow restart via the airline tubing? The video kinda skipped over the actual restart. I ask as i have had siphon over flows before like this but sometimes they get air in them and dont restart and then flood the tank and fish roomñ

Its using the same concept only. There is always a way to prevent the maintank from flooding. Water displacement calculation is important which will help prevent the flooding.

@yeders same concept as in for a diy overflow to work, the overflow needs to be primed first, then there is a siphon break that helps to activate the overflow and stops the overflow from completely siphoning the water. The only risk here is the siphon break doesnt happen. Then u may end up draining the entire water from your tank
