Nice tutorial! You inspired me to try it. I made mine 9" long to seat 3 fashion dolls. Materials needed: xacto knife or other sharp blade -1/4" thick foam core board, 15" x 20" (a pretty standard size) -thin cotton or polyester batting -fabric glue (personally, I like Beacon fabric glue; Walmart) -some kind of lightweight fabric in a color you like - I found a nice piece at the second hand store; I'd suggest getting at least 1/4 yd (I make mistakes...) -wood stain - optional 1. seat base - cut 2 pcs: 6 1/4" x 2 1/2" rectangle out of foam core board; glue together 2. back - cut another 2 pcs, 6 1/4" x 2 1/4" and glue together 3. arms - cut 4 pcs 2" x 3" (you could cut a long 3" wide pc, then cut four 2" pcs from that) - glue 2 together to make one arm 4. Seat cushions - cut another 4 pcs, 2 1/4" x 2 3/4"; glue 2 together to make one back cushion & the other 2 for the other cushion. (3:28:00) add a bit more batting to the front of each before upholstering for a poofier look. 5. Back cushions - 2 pcs: 1 1/2" x 2 3/4" Do NOT glue these together! (4:00:00 extra batting pc is 8" x 1") 6. 1/4" square dowel - cut 2 pcs to 7 1/4" long 7. 2 pcs of dowel cut two 2 1/2" long pcs 8. Legs - 4 pcs of dowel cut to 1" long 9. (4:40:00) assembling the wooden base and legs Hope this helps! If there are any errors, please let me know and I will edit.

Making it now. I couldn't find any of the materials so I decided to change a few. Just a tip. Don't use plywood. It is a lot of extra work. Also, don't use bulky soft material, it gives the couch a puffy look, not what you're going for. If you're like me and do different measurements, try to keep this is mind when buying fabric.

This looks easy enough for me to do and I've got all the materials. If I wanted to size this up to Barbie or American Girl size using your 1:12 scale measurements as my starting point, would I just double the measurements to get Barbie 1:6 scale? What about AG doll size which is 1:3 scale? Would I need to take your measurements and triple them? I truly hope I don't confuse anyone else reading your post. But I'm new at this and I want to get it right. Thanks in advance!
@terrymartin66676 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, go to Small Stuff's Print Minis and they have a scale calculator. You put in the original size (the one given here) of the piece and then the scale (1:12 in this case) you want and it gives you the answer. www.printmini.com/whatscale.html. If the link doesn't work from youtube copy it and paste on your web browser and it'll work. I just tested the link and it worked.
