For anyone planning to make this violin, I am sharing my experience of making a mini Guitar. It didn't turn out like the one in the video but it still looks pretty fantastic. here are the problems that I encountered:- 1. joining/pasting the popsicle sticks is really difficult. probably because the quality of my sticks was not good enough. 2. the sticks keep breaking 3. the coffee stirrers are not very flexible and they did not hold the shape. Ultimately I had to stuff the guitar body with clay. 4.making holes for the strings to pass is really difficult. And sticking on the tuning pins is also terrible! I have no idea, how she does it! 😄 I cut my hand a million times making this. Anybody who tries to make this, you already know what you might have to face. Be prepared! 😄
@aheckinduck29467 жыл бұрын
Did you soak the coffee stirs in water? She said that that makes them flexible.
@eatnbypeasoup7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I tried soaking them for three days. Boiling them etc and they just break or don't get sharp enough curves to work. I'm using ribbon rather than rubber bands but it shouldn't make that much of a difference

Statisfhyic boiled them for hours! 😂

Radhika Shrivastav, I know what you're talking about, I did the mini guitar as a gift for my boyfriend. She make's it look super easy (I think it's because she's so talented 🤗) but it was really (REALLY) hard... At the end the diy nightmare was worth it, because my boyfriend was fascinated.

In the process of making this right now. Warning to anyone who tries: - The middle of the violin with the delicately pointed ends is extremely difficult to get right. Went through two popsicle sticks trying to get it to have a delicate curve. - Make scores into the crevices and be delicate. If you manage to split along the grain of the wood your violin is toast, and cutting against the grain is a lot more difficult but much less risky. - Don't be discouraged if your coffee stirrer doesn't line up with the wooden top or bottom. You can soak it again (as it's banded) and that will soften it up so you can adjust the rubber bands and make it fit better. - SANDING IS YOUR FRIEND. It will really elevate the final product. Fold a piece of sandpaper in half and rub the thin end in the grooves to fit up the shape. Don't be too rough when holding it otherwise you may push the top/bottom part into the cavity.
