I had no idea that fill sticks were a thing! That looks way more convenient vs my messy “dip finger in putty container and rub into nail holes”. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for your super thanks! It's my second one ever :) Also, right?! I had never heard of one until few years ago but they are so handy! I always use it, scrape the excess off with a blade, then sand if necessary. If you sand without razoring off the excess, it sometimes spreads it out since its kind of waxy.

Nice job. You will really enjoy that extra space, and might find that it becomes a great gathering spot for interesting and zany conversations.

It definitely makes a big difference in a smaller kitchen! Extra storage, counter space, and an eat-in area.

This video is super helpful - thank you! We’re trying for something similar but with a single 36” wide base cabinet and I’m concerned about tipping. Have you noticed any tendency with your design to tip forward or backward? Did you choose a specific amount of overhang on the back to counteract the weight of the open drawers, doors, and unsupported space for the toe kick?
@YouCanDIYHome3 ай бұрын
@@davehard4178 we did that overhang based on being able to sit at it with a barstool/leg space preference. But no official formula. It doesn’t tip moving around, but it definitely can if you push all your weight on the overhang ( I tried) we didn’t care because there are no children around but it’s definitely something to consider if you have little kids. One option would be put two decorative pillars at the end of where the overhang is on each side and drop down and put two wheels under there and then the other two under the cabinet? May be a little safer and completely prevent tipping.

Those are good considerations. We do have 2 kids so ill be looking at that very carefully. I’m hoping with a smaller overhang (probably about 6 inches) it wont be an issue, but we’ll have to see if additional supports are needed after putting it together. Thanks!

The audio on your first 45 seconds was awful. You should re-record it with a proper microphone and update the video.
