Cafe Racer Garage What is the length of the lift when folded down? Planning on building one of my own but have limited room. Thank you!
@rexmericle50686 жыл бұрын
I could not stop watching all three videos and I can't thank you enough! This is exactly what I'm planning on fabricating, using the same hydraulic motorcycle lift. I've done some brain searching on how to do it but haven't started yet. One thing I didn't think about was that three step lock bar at the rear. GREAT idea that I will be adding to my build. As far as those "extra" holes from a miscalculation, I wouldn't worry. I recently built an engine stand for my CX Hondas and, thanks to "cutting an inch" and forgetting I did that, I have two spares myself! :) One thing that really made me smile was when you rolled your bike on to the lift. Why? Because the bike I'm building mine for is a 1984 Nighthawk. Anyway, this is a great build brother and your videos are excellent! Cheers from North Carolina!

Nice built. Tks for ALL your patience for doing this video, cause I wouldn't have that patience myself… LOL I'm looking for ideas here to build mine soon. Tks again.

Subbed to you about a year ago on a 'basic tools' vid. Congrats on the 100k didn't know you'd *built* this! Looks professional - some great ideas in there. I think I'd use two legs to catch the back and I'd want a more centralised jack but can see why this wouldn't have worked for this conversion! Great stuff. Big fan of the channel 👍

Good job on adapting that bike lift. I would add one thing to anyone building something similar. Watch the height to width, with some bikes if you are working on them, say using a cheater bar, you could start a toppling movement. Seen it happen with one home build lift.

That's the best conversion I've seen yet.

What an excellent series! I have several project bikes to work on and have just the same (useless) red lift you started with so I'll certainly try and copy what you have made. Many thaqnks from an OLD Yorkshire "Geezer" in Ireland.

Weld 2 stub tube legs at rear so the table is level in down position which will eliminate the need for the second jack.

Top job right there. Simple and effective. Did you go back and weld on some stops to sort the initial lift issue?

The bike lift has become really good. I could have welded a second strut to the spot where the lift meets the crossbar. After all, are high forces acting on the strut when pumping up.

Hi Mate , I will be making one ( following your vid ) 😁 I ride a harley 72 and a trike also got a little 125 I run around on , Mate the top of the table is that an old kitchen worktop ? If so you going to be putting a metal plate on top ? Cheers John
@CafeRacerGarage7 жыл бұрын
John McCallum the 72 sounds nice but I bet they are all fun to ride. The black top was from my local hardware shop and it's used for formwork (form Ply) when pouring concrete. It's great for stuff like this but it wasn't fun to cut on my table saw. It binds up due to the glue that is used in between the ply layers. Hope that helps John.

Thank you mate, I think it took way longer than it would normally but that was partly due to filming the process :) Are you going to build one for yourself?
@TRRILCS3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason you had to jack the trailing end of your lift. That is the problem with scissor lifts, when they are down flat the force is pulling the end too straight. Automotive hoists and other such devices are designed with a cam in then to get the lift started up and then the parallogram is able to function

I was just thinking the same build in my mind during the week ironically! How could I incorporate my bike jack ,and contemplated if it will work ? I run into your video and said to myself , there is always someone who have already thought about it and done it ! Sure enough there she is. I'm glad to see you have done it and it lets me know , I was not going to be able to build it , so I will wait till I can run into a used unit for sale 😂 Lol. Thanks
