Hello Thank you so much for your time and explaining, and not going too fast. You are God sent, I really enjoyed this, Do you know how to make an adult tutu by sewing one and putting a pretty elastic back for the waist to cover the part sewn in. The other tutorials was way too fast and not explained very well.

Great video, the nylon tulle in the UK that I have looked at is way to stiff and harsh for little ones. I am lead to believe that the polyester is naturally fire retardent which is really important in the UK for childrens clothing whereas the nylon is not. I'd be interested to hear what the regulations are in the UK. thank you for this video again

Hi I love your tutorial. I am wanting to make myself a tutu and I was wondering if you could give me a few tips I would appreciate it and thank you in advance. My waist is about 58 inch so you said to make it 5 inch smaller so about 53 inch can you tell me about how much tulle I would need if I want it to be about 15 inch long and double layered again thank you
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Awesome im glad to hear you are going to make one :-) yes you want to cut your elastic about 5-7 inches smaller than your waist size as the elastic will stretch out while you are making the tutu. As far as yardage for a double layer tutu to be on the safe side have about 350 yards of tulle. I know that seems like a lot but it comes on a roll and is only 6 inches wide so its not the same as in yards on a bolt. Overall its much easier to return tulle that is not needed then run out while you are making it :-). I hope that helped please let me know if you have any other questions

Hi i'm making some adults tutu's could you give me an est. on how much tulle you would need to make one for a uk size 20 woman please... thankyou
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Hello 😊 depending on how poofy you want it you will need between 300-500 yards (which would either be 12-20 25yd rolls or 3-5 100yd rolls) this will also depend on the length, I typically do a 15" length for adults but you would need to wear something underneath. These are also numbers to make sure you have enough but more than likely you will have leftovers that you can return 😉

@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Alessia Giovanna Hi there 😊 are you wanting the tutu to be layered with different lengths? Or all the same length
@alessiaramirez38218 жыл бұрын
Crafting Princesses at first I kind of wanted it to be one length, but I think I want it to be maybe two? I don't want it to look too uniformed. I'm watching your video now, and that waistband that you're using, can I buy it at Michaels or Joann Fabrics?
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Alessia Giovanna for the waistband if you would like to do the crochet band they dont have it at Michaels but they might at Joanns, I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby. If you decide to use a 3/4" non roll elastic you can get that at Michaels or Joanns. As for the layered tutu look I would recommend making the second layer 1"-2" shorter than the 1st layer. So for example lets say you 1st layer has a finished length of 10" (cut your pieces at 20") then you would want your 2nd layer to be 8" finished (so cut your pieces at 16") I hope that made sense
@alessiaramirez38218 жыл бұрын
Crafting Princesses yes! I get it. I got the 3/4 non roll elastic. So I think I'm gonna use that. Thank you so much for replying and your video helped a lot as well!! 💕💕

Thanks this helped so much. But I was wondering how much tulle would I need if I wanted to make my 5 year old and me a tutu?
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Chernay Markia im so glad it helped 😊 as for the tulle for a 5T I would recommend having 4-5 spools on hand and you can use as much or as little as you need depending on how full you would like it to be. For adults it is hard for me to recommend a specific amount as it will depend on your size and the length that you make it, however having 8 or more spools should work well for an adult size. Any spools you dont open can always be returned 😉

Hello. You do an awesome job on your videos. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I recently tried to make my daughter and niece a tutu before I saw your video ofcourse and uses Michaels Celebrate us brand and it was very cute when made but a knotted mess next day. I noticed it says 100% polyester. I just wanted to confirm based on your commentary above polyester from papermart should be used NOT nylon correct? Their website says their nylon is better and now I'm totally confused again. Lol. Thanks in advance for your response.
@CraftingPrincesses7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I am so sorry I am just now seeing this comment :-) As far as tulle it would really depend on the look you are going for, the polyester tulle is much stiffer and keeps a better shape, the nylon tulle is very soft and creates a nice look for items such as flower girl dresses. I would recommend to buy both if you can to see which you like to work with more. I personally prefer polyester for mine, I hope that was helpful.

Hey! If I'm making a tutu for a 1 year old, and they want rainbow, do I just need 1 spool of however many colors I need?
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
yes 1 spool of each color is plenty. You wont even need to use the entire roll. Depending on how many colors you use you will more than likely only use a quarter of each spool 😉

What can a person use if you don't have a manaquin?
@CraftingPrincesses7 жыл бұрын
Beth Walsh you can actually use your leg 😀 pull the sewn elastic strap around your thigh and tie the tulle on

I have two grand-daughters 8 & 10 who would love these little dresses but I don' t think my leg would be big enough. Thanks for the suggestion though.
@CraftingPrincesses7 жыл бұрын
Beth Walsh For the larger sizes you can put the waistband around your thigh and tie the excess in a knot off to the side, and let it out once you finish tying the tulle around the rest of the waistband. Or you can also use a wide piece of cardboard and put the waistband around that (have the board wide enough so the elastic is not loose) I hope that helps a bit more 😊

How many rolls of tulle for an adult size?
@quintaliasp7 жыл бұрын
How do i make it longer, my daughter will be 8 and she has long legs?
@CraftingPrincesses7 жыл бұрын
quintaliasp for the perfect length you can measure her from the waist to where you would like it to end. Then double that length and add an inch or 2 for how long you will need to cut each strip. As an example the typical length I use for a size 8 in kids is 12" (each strip cut at 25"-26") so if you would like it a bit longer than that I would recommend cutting each strip anywhere from 27"-29" 😊

Hi! Great video. Out of 4 I've watched, I like how yours seems to have a clean crisp look. I just wanted to ask you how exactly you are folding it prior to knotting them onto waist strap. I know you fold it in half, but after that, you do it so quick! :) I just want mine to have the same crisp look as yours (not messy looking).
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Vee See thank you for watching im so glad it was helpful 😊 When i fold the strips I fold them hot dog style (the long way) before I put them on the elastic waistband. When im using the crochet band I fold it hot dog style, then hamburger style, and I pinch the folded end so I can more easily insert the folded end into the holes and this helps with making sure the ends stay even. I hope that made sense
@veesee98 жыл бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to reply. So appreciate it. I just need a bit more clarity. For your first example, you fold it in half lengthwise, then you fold it in half lengthwise again? Twice? Just want to get it just right!!! :D
@veesee98 жыл бұрын
Can I also ask you another question-Wondering why for the elastic band you prefer double knot vs. slip knot? Just the look? :)
@CraftingPrincesses8 жыл бұрын
Vee See yes you are correct, I do fold it in half lengthwise twice just to make it easier when knotting and keeping all of the strips even 😉 as for the elastic waistband i prefer to do a double knot because since the elastic is 3/4" wide if I were to do a slipknot, the knot would come loose since the elastic it is holding on to is thicker. With the crochet band a slipknot works perfectly because it is such a small and thin amount of material that it is holding on to.

Thank you for the tutorial. How do you estimate how many pieces of tulle you will need for a tutu. I'm making two single-layered simple tutu's: one for a two-year-old, and one for a three-year-old. Thanks so much.
@CraftingPrincesses5 жыл бұрын
You will need approximately 50-60 yards of tulle on the spool for each (so about 2 and a half rolls for each if you are doing a single layer) as for how many strips I would start by cutting one 25 yard roll and then go from there 😊

is it okay to use a slide knot on a simple waist band ?

@CraftingPrincesses7 жыл бұрын
Alma Alvarez my 1st tip would be to use Polyester tulle which is a stiffer tulle. My second tip is if you are making this for your little one you can spray the tulle with a little hairspray or starch to stiffen it up. My 3rd tip is if it got stuck together after it being worn, you can clean it up by using your fingers to seperate the strips and you can also use a solution of part water and part fabric softener to spray on it and smooth out the wrinkles 😊
