Off-set the seams on the ceiling boards when nailing to the rafters. . . Looks better and stronger by far.

Well I found your channel last night . I went back to the beginning of the cabin build . I watch all of them and the hearth build . Took me most of the night .You and your wife certainly did a great job . Even the filming was great . Thanks for putting up the links for the stove . I must say that you have a very special wife . She worked side by side with you the entire build . Cold , rain and snow she was there . Not many ladies would do that. How did you ever get so lucky to find a lady like that . LOL . Looking forward to more of your videos . Take care .

I was surprised that you did not stagger your ceiling boards. It's not hard to do and it adds rigidity.
@COYO-T4 жыл бұрын
I see at one area your seams on the ceiling are lined up instead of staggered

Right WTF? stagger it homie!

You installed soffits and you have a gap at the roof for air flow, but how much air is going through the soffits to the gap on the roof. It is enough air flow to keep moisture out of the house?

Can you provide info on wood stove install.. I need to reinstall stove pipe just like you did.. What collar did you use at the angled ceiling? Was there a video on this? Thanks
Did you use tongue and groove or planks, I am trying to decide which way to go for our cabin

Just curious why you ran the ceiling boards all the same and not staggered like the walls to avoid same join line.

It looks like a ridge vent at the top and then you just left a space between that and the foam board for air flow? P
@JackofAllMasterofNone4 жыл бұрын
There are soffit vents on the soffit. And a 1 inch air gap above the insulation.

Thanks. Last question.. with my project of restoring an old cabin, I opened up the ceiling to create a loft. I need to convert my stove pipe from a flat ceiling box to a cathedral box. I’ve looked at the pictures of your set up. This is exactly what I’m going to have to do to convert my system over. Any information you have in the way of installation/parts would be well appreciated..

How did you attach the foam board insulation so it doesn’t fall)?
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
Fall where? We just used a few nails on each board to keep it from falling out until we installed the ceiling boards. It sits against them and ideally is cut so it's slightly under pressure between each ceiling joist. Also used cans of spray foam to fill in any large cracks between the foam board and ceiling joist.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone that makes sense. I didn’t see the nailing part. Thank you!!!

do u have to start at the top middle and go down the sides? so u cant just go up from the wall and up over the ceiling?
@JackofAllMasterofNone3 жыл бұрын
You can do it that way, Might make more work trying to make it look right at the ceiling though.
