DIY Off-Road Pull-Pal/Land Anchor testing and mods. Get unstuck !!!

I built the Home built pull-pal/Land anchor on Expedition Portal.com

Built this 2 yrs ago and havent got to officially test it yet under different terrains. Although it has saved my bacon once already, I knew it may need modifications.
Follow along as I find what works and what doesn't with this type of anchor.

Here's the measurements . Top bar------ 53" long Shovel bar---- 25" Connector bar/straps --- 36" Connector straps top bar hole 18.5" from hook end Shovel bar CS hole. 15.5" from top. ------ Holes for small 2x6 connector straps are an inch in (on both bars also) Hook end is up to you. I used a 6k lbs rated chain. Bars are 2" square 1/16" thick. It's held up surprisingly well with my XJ. ((This is a biggie)) Angles. -------------------------------- With the shovel flat on the floor. The top bar needs to be at least 4° upward (hook end up). ((Not parallel with the shovel, like the pull pal)) Those NZ guy's links (red & yellow anchors) have an 8° angle with success. 20° may be too much. 😊

I like it. Great job. Would be great if you added a schematic with all the dimensions including bolt locations and angles on one document instead of having to dig it out of multiple sites. Appreciate it!

This is great! 👍 I like this hidden winch too and this is the only winch I would put because I like the look of the front end on XJs. BTW nice XJ!
