DIY Office Makeover | Ikea Arched Billy Bookcase Hack & Ikea Alex Desk Hack | Perkins On Parkway

Making over this office was a long time coming but we are finally done! 5 different projects including two Ikea hacks! In this video we walk through how to create a custom beadboard accent feature wall, an arched ikea built in billy bookcase wall, a custom built in window bench with storage, how to add craftsman trim around windows and finally how to create a built in desk using Ikea Alex drawers and desktop.
What is your favorite project?! I think the custom built in bench takes the cake for me. The arched Ikea billy bookcases really make the room feel cohesive and put together. The built in Ikea Alex Drawer desk really elevates the work from home station overall. I can just see my friends Chase and Jovanna hanging and working here during the day and that makes me so happy. I love that you explained the process behind NOT using liquid nails! I see so many DIYers just slapping that all over everything and I absolutely hate using it 🙀 Absolutely no need for almost all projects and makes for 1000% easier removal! Love this room!

It's a very nice office upgrade. The only thing I would have changed was the bookshelf arch. I would have made it so that the top shelf could be used for books or decorations. It still looks nice. I love the simple IKEA drawer front upgrade hack. I think I'm going to copy it for my office upgrade. Overall, you did a wonderful job with the paint color, accent wall, and design.

Nice work! I'm assuming you just added the half moon wood to the front of the Billy bookcases along with some trim at the top. Unless I completely missed it somehow in the video, I didn't see you talk about that. Looks great! I also like what you did with the desk. Lots of good stuff here. I personally love a good Ikea hack!

Correct! I attached it with brad nails to the some framing that I added to the ceiling. There is a little quick edit of it in there

The desk is exactly what I was looking for! Looking amazing!!!!! May I know the length of the desk countertop? 74 or 98?

We did something similar with the arches and bookshelves, but I think you made a mistake filling those adjustment holes. We have wider shelves in our "wall unit" we also added trim (bead) on the front faces of the shelves, but the adjustability allowed us to put pieces of art and adjust the shelving height to box in the art which can be anything including even picture frames. Just an idea.
