I dreamed up this build two weeks ago and I’m about to start it. Hopped on YT to make sure I’m not missing anything about keeping the drill square. Your video took the jig to perfection from what I saw elsewhere. Thank you. Thanks to your inspiring video I think I need to make a full wall pegboard somewhere else in my house.

Just did mine. I love it. Just don't do what i did and screw the 2x4s in the wall just to realize that at that position it covers 2 or 3 rows of peg holes. Other than that, this project was a ton of fun. On to the next one. Thanks for your help Rachel.
@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetz4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the love! I would also alternate the holes.

I would strongly suggest that people secure the shelves to the pegs somehow. There are various ways to do this. When drilling the holes, it's highly likely that the ply will blowout if you use the method in this video. It's best to sandwich the ply between two scrap pieces when you drill each hole. A top tip is to mark and cut a row of holes into two scrap strips, then clamp them onto your board to use as guides and help prevent blowout. A clear stain is a great idea as it will help preserve the wood as the moisture and temperature levels change in your space. Mounting the boards to the wall is more effective if you use French cleats. It's stronger, easier, secure and you won't have visible drill heads to cover up.

Looks great! I noticed that when you tested the dowel in the holes they weren't a particularly tight fit. Did this not mean that the shelves slope slightly downwards? Cheers
@erinxjimenez4 жыл бұрын
Im trying to make this right now, dowels don't fit tight at all. I ordered dowel rods 1-3/8 to see if this would fit better. The drill bit is 1-3/8 and the suggested rod sizes are 1-1/4.

If you make top and bottom of ply wood in slow angle to wall .....egiptians use 2 degre angle on piramids for that reason you have sense that they never falling down whey you make pictures ...
@-The-Golden-God-3 жыл бұрын
Try putting a layer of paint/varnish inside the holes to tighten up the fit.

Hello Rachel, this is wonderful and thanks for uploading this. Since the wall is almost 2 years old now I'm curious to know how well it aged. I'm planning to make a Pegboard Wall myself but I'm not sure wether or not I should treat the plywood with oil to protect it. Especially since there'd be plants I'm afraid that it'd get dirty from possible soil/waterspills. I would love to hear your experience on this after extended use. Of course other viewers may reply too and share some tips in hindsight.

Yes! Cut the pegs to be a bit longer and make your shelf a little bit more wide to match - that will solve your problem!

So I bought a 1 inch drill bit and 1 inch dowels and the dowels are somewhat loose in the holes. They don't fit snugly. My shelf tilts forward a bit and I'm afraid things will fall off the shelves. Any Suggestions?

Hello! I couldn't find this info, so: how thick is your board? How thick it SHOULD be to fit those shelves, to handle its own weight + the things that are gonna be on it? I have a 0,5 mm board & i kinda see already that it's not good if I want to use it properly? You know, to place my laptop (and then the gaming monitor) there. And how are those things that handle the shelves are called? I don't even know how to search for them in my native language & where, I've never seen these at my local stores. I would appreciate some help a lot. Thanks.
