LOVE! Fyi... You can get giant rolls of cork at a "Teacher's" classroom supply store. Super cheap. I used it for seamless flooring in my small bathroom. It's thin too, but I ended up adheared going 3 layers. Spray glue and sealing it between layers as I went. It turned out SO nice and lasted 6yrs so far. Cork flooring is SO expensive and has those dreaded seems. My daughter did cork to the ceiling over her desk. She put up thin sheets styrofoam first as a base and spray glued the cork to that. I can't believe how sound proof her room was after. BONUS! A win-win. She plays her music louder and I don't have to listen! 👍

THANK YOU for this idea, Dawn! My roommate and I have bedrooms next to each other that are separated by a door, and so much sound travels through that door... I’m gonna make my side of the door a giant cork board with your daughter’s technique!

Regarding the cork- I did the same thing when trying to create a workspace. I bought it by the roll to create a giant bulletin board ...and it was too thin. But!! I realized you can significantly improve it by gluing the cork to a piece of cardboard (just break down an old box).

4:11 - thin cork hack✌🏻. As a young teenager (back in the 70/80s) my Dad, made me a huge cork board on the back of my wardrobe (which I used as a bedroom "divider"). He glued the thin cork sheets on a big sheet/layer of 1 inch thick soft board. So I was able to really stick pins and thumb tacks into the cork "board" (to hang all my 😍 80s Popstar posters). I still remember this DIY gift item, from my Dad, fondly 🥰 at 52...

I love the deskorganizers but that cork 🙀 I think the easiest way would have been putting the cork in a frame removing the glass/plastic or to glue it to a piece of MDF. Maybe spraypaint would've been better for the grey.

@dianebejarano80935 жыл бұрын
Ok, you are supposed to have the saucer under the plant pot. Also check out some macrame knot instructions so that the pot doesnt slip. Made my own back in the day and it is a balancing act to ger the pot to sit, but so worth it. Dont use glue gun on real plants. With or without the saucer. Plant moms take the plants out of the hangers, water them let them drain in an appropiate place, a sink with a crumb catcher, out on patio out of sun, until it stops dripping and then place back in the corded hanger. Yes I did. The ones outside i used plastic roping and sea shell so i could water without removing.

Homasote board wrapped in fabric (I bought a clearance curtain at Target to wrap mine) makes a really inexpensive and huge "cork" board. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes. Depot has a bin of cut off pieces being sold for about a dollar. Make sure you check there before you buy a full piece.

I do feel the space pulled together in the end, but spending 100 dollars for that tiny amount of space, especially not investing in a lot of money saving items, really was a blow of 100 dollars. The cork I felt was expensive in the place you bought it, and honestly you did not have to have that huge of a piece: it would have been a lot cheaper to get a smaller cut from elsewhere and be creative with the walls around the cork instead of having just the sole thing. It still turned out great!
@Heh34695 жыл бұрын
Krista I don’t know where you live but Canada is more expensive than the US. It’s crazy how a tiny house (1200 or under square foot) in Canada sells for more than a large home (2600+ square foot) in most states in the US.

With the budget you had some peel and stick decorative removal wallpaper to me would have made a bigger impact in the space. The lamp is cute and using Dollar Tree items helps to stay within budget. The inspirational board was a good idea, but doing it in a more practical material than the cork would last longer. In all it still looks very nice.

Your flower pot has a lip you should have just ran your string around the lip several times tacked down with hot glue and tied in a knot, then cut your 3 pieces of cord to run underneath the rim cord and tie together at the top, you know like a hanger. Next hot glue a base to your pot to prevent water leaking out.

I would have liked to see you stretch the $100 better. like a thrift find chair and on sale fabric, adding drawers from a garage sale that you painted in chalk paint. Doing a painting in chalk paint thatyu can write on. Perhaps adding some mirrors on the two sides, and or some diy shelving? Simply spray painting containers for a unified look. for the desk or shelves and some ingeinious thing for a garbage can ie a paint plastic bucket or something. High impact stuff.

And we have 6ft tall by 8 ft wide cloth panel on my left, on my right only 1/3 cloth wall shows because i lifted file bins up in shallow shelves. And 1/3 wall is a glass topper 8 ft 1 1/2 ft, we like to put peelable holiday clings there, lights banners.
