GREAT Video and as a guy, I'm not just saying this when I say it's very cool that I see a woman make a video like this. I also own a C300 (my third one) and would just like to make a few quick suggestions: 1. I would recommend that you first take out the old oil filter. On these top-filter cars (all German top-filter cars) the oil filter housing/oil filter/oil filter cap are designed in a way that has an anti-drain back valve. The reason for this is due to the oil filter's being on top, so when you start the car you have some residual oil to help lubricate the engine quicker. And by taking the old oil filter out first, more old oil drains into the oil pan and more old oil you can suck out. 2. When replacing the o-rings on the oil filter housing, you may want to rub some oil on them and then put them on the housing, not after. It will make them a little easier to go on. 3. When removing old o-rings from the filter housing (all of them) you may want to use a simple pick tool instead of a flathead screwdriver. A pick tool set (with various hooks) is only around $5-6. Nice job!

Thanks so much for the video. I just purchased a 17 C300 and wanted to learn how to change the oil. It’s a lot different than sliding under my Ford Explorer 😁

Great vid!!! In the future change the filter first then leave the filter cap off, this creates a vacuum and the mighty vac works really quick.

Best video for this engine type so far for the oil change. We have a 2016 GLC300 with the same engine and this video is quite helpful once our prepaid maintenance ends. Only thing I would add is that everyone uses a flathead to get O-rings off things. If you use something similar to a dental pick/automotive pick, it is much easier to get the o-rings unseated.
@rebeccac76635 жыл бұрын
That's such a genius idea, a dental pick! Thank you. For sure the rings were not easy!

just changed the oil in my Infiniti Q50 like this since it uses the mercedes 2.0t engine, and it's the best. i got the mityvac 7300 so i can hook it up to my little 5 gallon air compressor. takes about 15 minutes to get all the oil out. as far as the filter goes, you don't have to twist it on, just push it down until it clicks in place.
@Skoop0006 жыл бұрын
After adding the amount of oil that you extracted, don't quit there. Turn on the engine and let it run for a couple of minutes to saturate the filter and to refill all the oil galleries inside the engine that drained. THEN check the dipstick oil level. It will very likely be lower than it was right after filling. At that point, top the level off.

Yes, you're absolutely right. If I do another oil change video, I'll definitely include that at the end.

Can you reset the service warnings from inside the car without a special tool, like I can with just pushing reset in my truck?
@rebeccac76634 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, you can do so with just the buttons from your steering wheel. Your dealership can do it for you too if you stop by. I did mine on my own, but I have to admit that my car is finicky. It took me a couple tries.

Your's is the best of the videos I found. Really good job being clear and thorough. Thanks for do this! I ran into one problem though and I was wondering if you could help. The tube that goes into the dipstick tube on my setup is too short -- it never hit bottom and I only got 5 quarts out. Can you tell me how much of the tube went in before it hit bottom when you did it? Thanks!
@AlGolzari2 жыл бұрын
I know your comment is a year old but it's pretty easy to check. Just take your dipstick out and measure it against your hose length. That will give you an indication whether your hose is too short. I don't know what kind of car you tried it on BUT just know that these oil extractors are great but based on the engine design and how the curves and corners all the way down to the oil pan are made - that plays a factor. This is why some people buy an oil extractor and they got everything out and some people buy an oil extractor and curse it because they say they only got 1 quart out (assuming the extractor is working properly).

I own a new 2018 C300 with the 2.0 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine. The owners manual states that I use SAE 5W-40 oil with the MB 229.5 specification.
@hoangtubehoangtube5 жыл бұрын
You can you Mobil 1 0w40 MB 229.5 at Walmart. MB Dealer said that to me :) 7.4 QT . Dealer uses 5W40 because the oil can be used on Gas and Diesel Engine. But the 0w40 with MB 229.5 is better for Gasoline Engine
@rebeccac76635 жыл бұрын
True for this reply! The only thing I would add is that I personally would stick to one oil if I can, instead of changing it up.

dose this engine consume engine oil between oil change?
@rebeccac76635 жыл бұрын
Yes, there can be oil in the engine itself or hiding in nooks and crannies, so that means when you extract, you might not get every drop out. I change my oil often so don't run into low oil problems. Hope that helps.

I paid for prepaid service $700 and it doesn’t even cover the 3rd service, how disappointing. If you have the 4matic did your front tires wear out really fast? Mine was worn on the outside before 8k miles. Since it’s a lease I have to find the same damn continental RFT’s. Are you sure it’s 0w-40? Also, I recommend the cheap electric oil extractors, it saves time and effort. I do keep a smaller manual oil extractor for hard to reach places (ie:gearboxes, ptu’s etc.)
@hoangtubehoangtube5 жыл бұрын
Go with the normal tire like West Lake brand at Walmart both front tires are 160 USD included installation and labor. I have done with the tire has 10K mile and don't have any problem at all
@AJ-we9kd5 жыл бұрын
I had to replace with the same tires. MB only charges $240 a tire. I found them for about $40 a tire used online with enough tread per the lease agreement. Unfortunately my car is severely under mileage like my last Mercedes. At least this time I’ve done 22k miles out of 30k.
@rebeccac76635 жыл бұрын
I have about 30K on my car and haven't had tire wear issues yet. On the oil, see Khan Tran's comment above! It's spot on.
