DIY Overland |Tiny House | RAM 5500 Box Truck Expedition Vehicle: Part 2 Solar Panels & Roof Fan

Part 2 of our EarthRoamer on a budget build series. We transform this empty box into a homey but very off-road capable overlanding & expedition vehicle in TWO months! We started with a RAM 5500 chassis cab then had a 14ft Morgan box mounted on the back with intentions to make this our next adventure home on wheels. In this episode, we get right to business despite being in the middle of the Arizona desert while still living out of the van. We get busy cutting a large hole in our brand new shell of a box & we have some friends join us to install all FIVE of our 370W Panasonic solar panels for a total of 1850W of solar! Join us as we begin this crazy adventure and do our best to tell the story of MACHO as it unfolds.

Hi everyone, I'm new to your channel. Got here just in time. I'm building out a 16 foot box truck and I'm glad to see you put so much solar on top. I have watched so many videos and they put 300-500 watts on top, I'm staching my head and asking why not more?? I'm putting 1800 watts as well on top if I can get it up there. I had to build a deck on top because it is a fiberglass roof, to protect the roof and have something to build onto. Good luck, can't wait for your next video. God bless U all. Russ

Awesome! Welcome to the channel! I agree you can’t have enough solar panels! I get it when people want a deck or skylight instead of solar. We have a mini split and all electric so we need as much solar as possible. Thanks for watching and God bless!

Thank you! Panasonic doesn’t sell solar panels anymore. But REC bought the technology for Panasonic and make the exact spec panel. REC alpha series is what you want or a premium residential solar panel. Thanks for watching!
