I’ve been looking for a cardigan tutorial to try, and no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find any that made sense to me. I didn’t understand their stitches and patterns, especially the “post” crochets. I found this video and thought, “how can it be a nice detailed tutorial in twelve minutes?” Turns out, this was a really easy to understand video and gave me a lot to work off of. Thanks so much, can’t wait to try this!

Just a heads up for anyone who wears the size L, this cardigan was clearly made to fit “oversized style” on a size S at least.. it would be great if the creator would add the measurements of the finished product in the description! Or at least what size she wore, so we don’t waste time and yarn..

Thank you for this. Two questions: 1 - you state it is 75 stitches wide and then you marked in 37 from each side. 37+37 = 74, but you more than one stitch between your markers. Could you please advise how many stitches you left in the center for the neck? 2 - could you please provide the approx measurements of the final sweater? (Back width, Back length, front panel width, sleeve width, sleeve length) That would really, really help me figure out what size to make. Thank you!

I had issues with tension when switching between hdc rows and hdc spacing rows… my back panel looks all wavy since the spacing rows were more tense then the normal hdc rows… I’ll have to restart and use a bigger hook size with the spacing rows I guess🤷‍♀️. I also really wish you would have mentioned that the stitches increase each time you start the hdc spacing rows. I made sure to keep 75 stitches all the way up which resulted in me not having enough stitches when it came time to make the front panels.

This looks so good. If it’s 75 stitches though and you mark 37 down from either side, that’s the tiniest bit in the middle is it not? And did they increase the amount of stitches in the back panel so it started as 75 and got more orrrr - sorry I’m stupid and struggling a little

Making this comment as constructive criticism and my experience working the cardigan, no hate!! For reference: I'm an intermediate crocheter, so this pattern felt semi-beginner friendly. I used 3 Caron Cakes skeins and needed a little extra yarn to finish this cardi. Mine came out a bit "chunkier" and "rigid" so maybe if I had used the yarn she had, it would feel "lighter" and "looser"? Making the panels was super easy, although I did have to adjust the pattern cause I noticed my stitch count was increasing each time I finished the chain space portions, so I just did one decrease when I began a new row of the "solid row". I do appreciate the modeling in the beginning of the video of how the cardi looks on her as well as the back of it (since sometimes that gets forgotten to film)! There is a comment on here that said it's not oversized fitting if you're larger than a small size, which I think would be helpful to mention in the video. Overall, making this cardi with the alternating "blocks" was a nice change of pace for me so that there was some variety for me to work up! Thanks for the free pattern tutorial and hope you have a great day!!

QUESTION!!! DO YOU USE THE SAME EDGING ON THE CARDIGAN OPENING AND BOTTOM AS YOU DID ON THE SLEEVE? AND WHEN YOU DO THE 2ND FRONT PANEL IS THERE A RIGHT AND WRONG SIDE FOR WHEN YOU ATTACH THE YARN? I did this sweater with a stiffer yarn (I was newish to crochet at the time) and it didn’t come out good. When I didn’t see how to finish of the edges of the cardigan, I took the whole thing out. I assume you put the same ribbing on the cardigan opening and bottom that you used on the sleeve. Is that correct? I will remake this in a softer yarn.

Sorry it wasn’t clear, it’s every other row of the spacing! So start the spacing row 1 with hdc and then chain one skip one, for the 2nd row make 2 hdc in a row and then chain one skip one. For the third row alternate back to just one hdc, chain one skip one, and for the 4th row alternate back to 2 hdc in a row!

For the front panel, do you alternate the chain spaces with starting the row with 1 hdc and then two hdc on the next row, or is it just 1 hdc for the whole thing? Thank you!

Can someone explain how to do the front panel? It seems as though you crochet one side of the front panel all the way down. Do I cut the yarn in order to do the other side the same way?

Yes i just joined my yarn to the opposite corner and copied the same steps, but you can create your panel separate and sew the seams together at the top!

Has anyone made this cardigan? I just finished the back panel. The sides are rather wavy where the stitch changes from hdc to hdc skip 1 hdc. How did it turn out when stitched together, does it remain wavy. I’m a little reluctant to continue. Can anyone advise.
@itserinb
@itserinb 3 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Yes my cardigan panels were the same way, had a little bit of wave to them but once I joined them to their respective front panels I couldn’t see the wave anymore. If the wave is super obvious it could be due to your tension, I had to loosen mine up quite a bit on the chain one rows as well!

Hi there! I’m not sure where you’re seeing 8 balls for the pattern, but I used a little less than 3 skeins total of the Red Heart Soft yarn. Each skein is 10oz, so I used less than 30oz of that yarn!!

@---rh1og
@---rh1og 2 жыл бұрын
She used roughly 300 grams, 600metres of yarn. The yarn weight you are using should be okay, going down to 5ply may not help I suggest using a bigger hook size if you’re using that much yarn. Try to go for a 5-5.5mm hook instead. It should help get the sizing correct

I’m sure you could stick to the regular half double crochet for the whole pattern. Just skip the chain 1 skip a stitch. For the body she had six panels of 11 rows. So that would just be 66 rows of regular half double crochet. Then another 66 for each half of the front panels. And 44 rows of hdc for each sleeve panel.

Mine kept getting waves in the half double crochet rows too! I also didn’t realize the stitches would increase as you did the hdc spacing rows so I ended up with the wrong amount of stitches when it came to making the front panels… go figure! I assume the wavy tension issue can be resolved with switching to a bigger hook when doing the hdc spacing rows since those seem smaller!
