DIY Paint Pouring Christmas Ornaments - Bonus Acrylic Pour Coaster

DIY Christmas Baubles. Every year a buy a couple of nice ornaments for my Christmas tree. This year is the first year I've been doing Acrylic pouring so I decided to make my own. I've seen a few different methods but wanted to keep it simple. I love the result and can't wait to put them on my Christmas Tree!

You also could pour some gold paint inside the top-shaped ornaments and swirl it around so it entirely coats the interior. Then when you do your paint pour, the gold would show through the gaps where there wasn’t outside paint. Just a thought.

You are such an incredible artist! I am such a newbie to acrylic pour.!! The colors are so beautiful, i would hate wasting it. Maybe you could put freezer paper over the foam before pushing them in...then you would have those beautiful skins for other small projects.

Keen to try this! How about little fridge magnets with the small things? I would have liked to see how you dip them in the spilled paint … how you held on to them to dip them.

I have bought some magnets but they don't stick well. Might have to try some glue. I use a golf tee with some Blu-tack to hold onto it to dip 😉

How well does the paint hold up and stick to the ornaments over time and also is there any prepping or sanding that needs to be done prior to pouring the paint on?

This was the first time doing it so yet to see how long it lasts. I didn't do any prep but did finish it with a spray on varnish 😉

Thank you. 😊 I didn't actually measure it. My pouring medium is 1 part Liquitex pouring medium to 1 part Floetrol. Then mixed to a consistency I was happy with.

Beautiful! How did you varnish? Did you apply it the same as you swirled the paint on the baubles, or paint it on?

I did these in warm Weather and it took about a day. But I gave it multiple days before I spray varnished them.

For this piece, I used White Knight Crystal Clear Acrylic Clear Gloss

How do you keep the acrylic paint from peeling off?

This is the first time I've made these, but I covered them with varnish once they had dried properly. Gives it a nice shine and should make them more durable 😉

Set the tile on a bowl or something. Put the tile on top. Spin a lazy susan to get the paint to flow.
