You also could pour some gold paint inside the top-shaped ornaments and swirl it around so it entirely coats the interior. Then when you do your paint pour, the gold would show through the gaps where there wasn’t outside paint. Just a thought.

Keen to try this! How about little fridge magnets with the small things? I would have liked to see how you dip them in the spilled paint … how you held on to them to dip them.

I have bought some magnets but they don't stick well. Might have to try some glue. I use a golf tee with some Blu-tack to hold onto it to dip 😉

Stunning Fiona! You have given me a push to try next year! I’ll bet they are not as good as these but I’ll have a go! Can I be so rude as to ask what ratio of paint to pouring medium/flotroel you used on these? Rare to find another Aussie to follow 💚💛
@fionascreativecanvas Жыл бұрын
Thank you. 😊 I didn't actually measure it. My pouring medium is 1 part Liquitex pouring medium to 1 part Floetrol. Then mixed to a consistency I was happy with.

Hi Fiona, can you tell me how long it took to completely dry? I am trying to make them but was pouring the paint into the Bauble. Your idea is interesting and looks beautiful. Can you tell me if they still look as lovely after 10 months. Some of my previous ones with white paint have cracked. Great job. Have you made them again since this video? Thanks so much!
@fionascreativecanvas2 ай бұрын
I think it took a couple of days to dry, but I left it for over a week before I spray varnished them. The weather would have been warm here at that time of year. I haven't pulled them out of storage to see how they have held up. I will have to check. Have I made them again? It's on my list of things to do this week! Hopefully, I can get the video out next week. 😉
@BobbiDeLineАй бұрын
It’s possible since you’re painting on the inside that the paints stayed too thick & didn’t dry properly. I’ve never had trouble with cracking when pouring on the outside, just brought out ornaments I did last year & they’re good.

Are you using pouring medium to thin your paints? I'm going to be doing this again soon and try some techniques to get the paint moving quicker. 😉
@BobbiDeLineАй бұрын
@@fionascreativecanvas last year I put a base coat of white over the whole ball first so the colours flowed well. Only works good if you want white to show up in your design. I have also blown a bit with a straw to get the paint goung in the direction I wanted, just not too hard or the colours blow right down to the white! 🤦🏼♀🤣

The only thing I don’t like about acrylic poor ornaments is that they’re not as shiny. Unless you put a top coat on them I like the gloss look that you get from pouring alcohol paint inside and then doing a white topcoat inside. I don’t like the acrylic pour look on the outside it just isn’t shiny. You have to spray them to get that shine and it’s just not worth it to me.
@fionascreativecanvas18 күн бұрын
Oh that sounds interesting. I haven't used alcohol inks very much, but it sounds like a great option.

The proportions of the paints are arbitrary.
@BobbiDeLineАй бұрын
I just put about an inch of pouring medium mixture in the small cups I mix in & add my colours & play with it til I get the consistency I want. You just don’t want it too thin or it’ll all just run off ….trial & error has been my personal experience as I mix in small amounts as you don’t need a ton to do these.
