This is a great tutorial. Your countertops look like real marble. I wonder if the lacquer had anything to do with the bubbling?

Looks great as far as bubbles you have to be very careful when you mix not to pull the paddle out of the epoxy as you are mixing that will draw in air. Before you use the epoxy put the jugs in warm water for about half an hour it will help it flow. You can sand it now and put a flood coat over what you have that will take care of the problem you have now. It looks so nice it would be worth the effort to just finish what you have done it looks great. The cabinets look great too !

I've watched a lot of tutorials on counter top and venetian plaster, faux stone over the last year to prepare for my projects. This was probably my favorite. I gathered lots of inspiration and more confidence from your video. The feather was brilliant! Thank you! I was wondering if the primer that each seller recommends for their epoxies may help remedy/seal the gas from causing bubbles (gases from the counter material, or paints used?). I haven't been able to determine the importance of brand specific primers yet.

Hi, great job I did all my countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms with stone coat epoxy. I also had bubbles ( not a lot) however when I sanded down the countertops a week later, I used the Stone coat topcoat. now you don't see any bubbles or imperfections. The top coat is the seal to long-lasting countertops.

I’ve used them for years and they are a great company. What you need to do is lightly sand the area and re epoxy and use a blow torch are just a small kitchen torch and it will pop the bubbles out. It looks great what you did and those bubbles are very easy to get rid of. Give us a update on what you do

This is the best job I have seen! I am using your pattern in my kitchen. Maybe the chalk paint reacted and gave off gas like vinegar and baking soda type think since chalk is calcium carbonate and calcium reacts even with water. It looks beautiful regardless.

I am guessing the issue with the bubbles was because of gases. Paint usually has gases, and releases them for up to 24 hours after being applied. If you applied the epoxy less than 24 hrs after you finished painting, the paint was still off gasing.

So did you use alcohol or water to spray over veins to feather them out? Is Ann Slone paint chalk paint? Im assuming since you did the epoxy over it wouldnt really matter what paint?
@flippinglemons
@flippinglemons 2 жыл бұрын
Just used water in a spray bottle, and yes it is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I know the paint very well & know that I can make a beautiful faux finish with the paint. Plus it doesn't have a sealer built into the paint so it adheres to the countertop surface much better than any "one step" paint.

Stonecoat is the superior epoxy. I wouldnt use anything else. Its a one to one ratio. Food safe. Any time u use paint on countertops and then use epoxy, u must wait at least 24 hours for paint to off gas. If u use Stonecoat undercoating u can wait just 4 hours. Hope this helps u.
