DIY picket fence wall decor (with shelves)

I was looking for some wall decor for behind my desk, so here is what I came up with. I made this amazing piece using cedar fence pickets, a 2x6, and four 3" strips of 1/2" plywood. This wall decor could be made in any size, shape, or color. In the video, I will give you a few different ideas on how you can make your own. It could be made with shelves or just to hang items from.

looks good. you can also shiplap the boards and only fasten them in the center if you like the gappy look but don't want the light coming through. only fastening the center will let them shrink without cracking. i do about a 1" bead of glue and two brads at opposing angles per board. i use pickets to back rustic style freestanding shelves mostly, so slightly different usecase but should still work out.

If you want to make it real small, use paint sticks that they give out when you buy paint :), But this could be made with just glue and a hand saw. Thanks for watching the video :)
