Doesn't the water soak up into the ground in the middle then, or just by doing the sides keep all the water in, but what an amazing job and what you have created for nature 🙏
@6Acres3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your compliment. The middle part of my pond is mostly bedrock and therefore doesn't leak too badly, so I only applied a thin layer of bentonite. So far it is holding the water well.

i recommend spreading the clay from the bottom first ans work your way up to prevent the clay chips from slipping all the way down the slope.

That’s a lot of work! The engineering mind in me would wonder whether it’s possible to sling the bentonite.. but I guess what’s the fun in that.. how did you calculate how many bags you need?
@6Acres Жыл бұрын
Having done the other two smaller ponds earlier in the year definitely helped me plan the process of this pond a bit easier and ballpark the amount of bentonite we needed. Thank you for checking out the video!

Beautiful video! ❤ I’m Taiwanese living in America too. My husband, daughters, and I have a leaky pond which we want to fix also. How much is the bentonite per bag?
@6Acres Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching my video! So nice to hear from an overseas Taiwanese! It’s about $16 for a 50-pound bag. You want to get “ bentonite chips”. If you haven’t watched my other video of sealing our two smaller ponds, you might want to check it out. I drew animation to show how the bentonite clay works. It expands in water! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bneZYaGXbNKhidUsi=0ai7IvnIo5SeTDjh It’s easy to apply and I am sure your whole family would enjoy doing it together.

Liked and Subscribed!! Question, my garden is 85% Clay, so,instead of buying Bentonite Clay, will it be possible to use the naturally occuring clay, to make a pond?! At the moment, everything is covered with a Patio, but I would like to build a nature garden. TIA.

So far, so good. The pond is full and overflowing now. It's May already. The water level was never this high.
