***Sarcasm Alert*** When I stated that “warm air sinks”, I was being sarcastic. I know that warm air rises. It was suppose to be a jab at the poor design of the inverters that try to force all the warm air out the bottom of the inverters. I guess I wasn’t sarcastic enough.

@@easttexascowboy257 Haha! Yeah, not one of my smarter moments on this build. Ultimately it did work out better though because the replacement has 3x the length of cable, so I'll be able to mount it on the outside of the box.

It’s coming along nicely. Those outlets look nice. Little hack for using a hole saw on plastic. Start with drill in forward then switch to reverse 1/2 way through. Prevents any cracking in the plastic.

In other videos I've seen adding a pcb relays board and also a temperature sensor directly to the RPi pins and integrating them into Venus OS. The advantage is that manually controlling the relays switching or automating them according to the temperature sensor is done in one app directly in Venus OS. This could be interesting as an upgrade for controlling fans, or battery heating, things like that for you in the future.

That would be pretty cool! I actually integrated my old 12v system into my Venus OS (the same one I'm putting into the case) which allowed me to remotely turn the inverter on or off. Might be a possibility again for a future update. The only downside is that it would only work on WiFi and that connection would have to be pre-programmed into the Pi. Basically it would only work at my home and then it would lose access to the internet.

@@AdamDeLay07 In one YB video about installing Venus OS, they said that in the case of offline use, the Rasberry Pi with Venus OS stores data on the SD card and when it comes back online, it transfers all the offline data from offline use back to the system and doesn't keep it on the SD card, so it works very efficiently with offline data. So even in the case with offline use somewhere away from the internet, or an internet failure at home, the solar monitoring history would not be lost, if that were confirmed it would be great. Could you please test this with your DIY portable power station? This is exactly what I've been looking for a long time, that which solar monitoring system will allow me to have full time monitoring with history for online and offline use of a portable solar power station.

@@tiborchren now that you mention that, I do recall that happening when I had the VRM running on my 12v system in my barn. I didn’t have stable internet out there so it would store the data and reload each time I fixed the internet connection. I do have some upcoming projects which might free up some equipment to go into the power station, and then I can test the VRM access.

For the diyers. I used the same ridged box. I got 2- 80ah lifepo4 batteries in it with a 5 " gap in the middle. as i needed 24vdc 80 ah for a kayak motor. By the way ridgid sells a taller box called xl

Adam, you have stated this before in another of your videos and no one commented about it. Warm/hot air does not sink, it rises as temperature increases. Hot air rises primarily due its lower density as compared to cooler air. As the temperature increases, the density of the air decreases. Thus, the fans in EG4s should be pulling cooler air at the bottom and blowing it upward over the electronics, and exhausting at the top. If the fans are blowing hot air out the bottom, the wiring is wrong for the fans.

*** EDIT *** I now realize I missed the Sarcasm ....... HAHA ! *** I agree about the hot air. the EG4 was designed to pull air from top and out through the bottom (As indicated with the intake filters attached at the top.) So the STOCK EG4 is not wired wrong..... HOWEVER I actually Modded my EG4 , to reverse the fans , such to pull air out of the bottom and up through the top. it HAS made a measurable difference. I was able to make custom magnetic filters that attach to the bottom and sides of the EG4 where the air now is brought in. ~RandomPlanet

It makes no sense at all having the fans suck air from the top and try to blow all the heat out of the bottom of the unit…

If you had OCD you would have removed that AC outlet piece, picked up a file and enlarged that hole so that the AC outlets actually fit flush into your "fit perfectly"hole. Some people confuse OCD with lazy. If you have to say "no one will know" you are dont doing a good job.
