That is a neat idea. You should invest in an edge bevel tool to clean up after the cuts. Also, taking 5 minutes to run some sandpaper over the edges and burnish them would have resulted in a nicer finish. I think I may just tackle something similar very soon. It would make for a super handy addition to my camping set up. Thank you for sharing!

I bought an RZ mask after your very first promotion of the product. I absolutely love mine and use it every weekend when I'm making sawdust. It's so convenient - - on and off in a snap with great protection. BTW...Great project with the light! Happy you're settling into your new home well.

FYI, if you wet the edges of the cut leather and rub them with something smooth the edges will loose there fuzzy look. if you take that one step further and round the edges before wetting it can look even better. if you apply edge dressing to the slicked down edge it applies a slick color to the edge. it all depends on the look you are going for. great work, great looking shop so far.

One thing I would add: a small cone or pyramid wrapped in shiny aluminum foil, glued with the base upwards, on the inner side of the lid of the lamp. It would direct more of the light outwards. Right now, much of the light is lost inside the lantern.

Beautiful work, Linn! Great idea! 😃 I made a 10w LED flashlight with PVC pipes and so on... But, yeah, it's 12v. So I used a 3s LiPo battery and a LiPo alarm. So it's going to beep when you need to change/recharge the batteries. 😊

That was so awesome! I have soldered LED lights before so am quite handy with that but never thought of using a rechargeable battery. I am so going to make one just for fun :-) and knowing my kids, I will have to make 2 more ;-) I will have to re-watch this video though as you have some nifty ways to put it all together

Hi Linn, I'm afraid this video came out very disjointed. I assume that's because it was filmed in small chunks and none of the steps were completed in one shot. However, it would have been nice to see them put together in a more logical order for the video. Specifically, I wish the electronics build was all together and in more detail.
