I've watched a few DIY fume extractor builds and this one is very clean by comparison. Thanks for incorporating 3D printing into the project. It shows how big of a difference it can make as a maker if you add it to your bag of tricks.

I think the filter should not be at the back of the extractor, the smoke will never go thru it, it should be straight in front of the fan.

Or redesign it so the filter is in front, and the fan sucks out the back.

You are absolutely right, but it's only the structure that was 3D printed and you can do it with wood or even with a food container 😉

it's absolutely amazing what you did, especially for the part of design and project in 3D print, but my friend i have to say you that this solution is not totally effective and it's important what i want to tell you now. Carbon Filter hasn't the capacity to filter the substances into soldering fumes because they are really small particles that can't be catched by the carbon filter and pass through it's entire thin. Only the 5% of it can be filtered, but other 95% of this substance pass and go into the air that you breath, and this is an hazard. You absolutely should leave the carbon filter and put an HEPA filter, that can filter particles with 0.3 micron of dimension.
